Polarcycle is right but there is a speed sensor on the drivers side top of the trans. toward the tail shaft or transfer case. there is as well a sensor inside the trans. itself that is mounted on the web. behind the overdrive band and drum.

If it has RWAL only, the sensor is in the rear end. If it is ABS brakes, there are speed sensors on the front wheels as well. If there is in fact a speed sensor in the tranny, it is most likely internal.

Did the parts guys tell you where it was? They usaully don't know where parts go. Does it have threads like it screws into something, or a bracket where it will go into something and bolt on?

Hi,

for the 1998 Explorer XLT with the 4.0 EFI (not the SOHC), the speed sensor is located on top of the rear diff. and it is a magnetic one, you won't find it at autoparts store.

You can order it straight from the dealership. cost app. $40.

Thanks.

    Hi,

To be honest, It's always in the rear. I have never heard what you are informing me ?

I would appreciate if you can get back to the dealer and ask him for help as what you commented doesn't sound like he is aware of the speed sensors. In few models, there are more than one sensor, so you are referring to which speed sensor?

    Thanks.

Location and/or diagram of the output speed sensor on a 2014 Ford F150 XLT transmission.

The output speed sensor on a 2014 Ford F150 XLT is typically located on the transmission tailshaft or the rear of the transmission case. It is used to measure the rotational speed of the transmission output shaft and send a signal to the vehicle's powertrain control module (PCM) indicating the transmission gear ratio.
I would recommend checking the vehicle's service manual for a more specific location and a diagram of the sensor, as the location and installation may vary depending on the specific transmission model and options your Ford F150 XLT has.
The output speed sensor is typically a small, cylindrical sensor that is mounted to the transmission case. It is connected to the PCM via a harness and may be located near the transmission oil pan or near the output shaft.
If you're unsure of its location or have trouble finding it, a professional mechanic will be able to locate and diagnose any issues with the output speed sensor.

I have a 2004 ford explorer xlt v6 4.0l gas. need a o2 sensor diagram. I need names and description. for example bank 1 sensor 2 after catalytic converter

Hope this helps

Bank two are the even cylinders. Follow exhaust manifold on the side. You will find an O2 sensor just after or on the manifold, before the catalytic converter. Then, look after the catalytic and you should find another O2 sensor, this is the one you mention in your post.

1998 ford explorer speed senors

The VSS was deleted for 1998. The vehicle speed signal is generated by the rear anti-lock brake sensor and sent to the 4-wheel anti-lock brake system (4WABS) module. The 4WABS module sends the vehicle speed signal via circuit 679 (GY/BK) to all systems which require a vehicle speed signal input.

Did you recently change tires to maybe a different tire size. If so this may be your problem. If so to correct this you would have to have this calibrated into the PCM with a scan tool.

There is also a technical service bulletin out for harsh downshifts the number is 99-8-7. This requires a reprogram of the PCM.
