If the check engine light does NOT light up on the dash when you turn on the ignition, then your ECU is in need of repair. The engine will only start after the check engine light comes on and the ecu is what controls that. It's likely going bad, causing the delayed start problem typical of early 90's jeeps. If the check engine light does not light up, on the dash, before trying to start the jeep then the computer ecu may be in need of repair. If the check light does come on before cranking, then it might be on of a number of sensors that has gone bad.

OBD Codes can be read turn therre times ON/OFF ignition key (without start engine)... read light sequence and note... Read the Check Engine Codes

Try using the key-less entry to disarm the security. then I think I would get out the test light and look at the A.S.D. (auto shut down) relay in the fuse box under the hood. Verify it is not ignition switch. This relay gives the injectors, coil,and other things power.

Generally you can clear that by locking and unlocking the drivers side door using the key. Also try hatch lock and sometimes passenger side (rarely but sometimes used).
