Gets power to everything but will not try to start at all

When I turn the key everything powers up as normal but when I turn it to the start position nothing happens. I got stuck at work a couple weeks ago and my husband came out to help and was able to get it started by putting it in neutral. This happened another time and I was able to start it the same way. However it just happened again and it will not start at all.

Could be.

Also the jiggling thing could be a coincidence. :0)

Tell me this.... when you turn the key, do you hear a CLICK?? If so your starter is probably bad.

Could be a fuel pump that is going bad. Some times when fuel pumps go bad they cavitate and pump not just gas but also air. If you get too much air in the line and not enough gas the car won't start. Have a mechanic check your fuel line pressure.

2008 Ford Expedition el limited sometimes starts great but most times does nothing when try to start everything still comes on and has power but does not turn overrun less I keep turning keys off and back...

Could be the key switch, or the starter, or another component.
You would need to check for power at the starter terminals when the key is in the start position.

Turn key and just a loud click starter not turning but I noticed when key is in start position all power seems to go out dash lights radieo dome everything goes out until key is returned to run pos.

Everything is supposed to go off in the start position. You would have power to the engine computer and other components to start.
If the engine is not locked up, it could be the starter or a bad connection with one of the battery cables.

Power cuts when i turn key

If you mean everything goes out when you turn the key to the START position, understand this:

* Accessories will turn off during START to remove excess load on battery

* A weak battery will draw down and cause this symptom - the two most likely times of year are when it first gets really warn outside (batteries hate heat) and when it gets really cold outside (Natteries hate cold).

* A defective starter can draw excessive current and cause this symptom.

If your battery is more than three years old, I would suspect it first..

Engine will not start

Do you have power on the small wire at the starter with the key in the crank position? Something else you can do is pull the starter relay. One pin should have power all the time (power from the 50 amp fuse number 9). One pin should have power with the key in the crank position (power from fuse 10 via the ignition switch. The other two pins should be grounded. One goes to the starter solenoid and the other goes to the neutral safety switch. Let me know what you find and I'll see what I can do!

I have an 1989 jeep comanche. It had an ignition switch bypass. I took it off and replaced the switch and the relay. If i touch the positive battery cable to the green starter wire on the relay it...

on the relay there will be a small wire that gets power when you turn the key to the start position
find that wire and connect it to the small terminal of the starter solenoid
then if you get it right , when you turn the key to start, power will get to the starter solenoid , energize the solenoid and the starter will engage

95 cutlas sup. you can drive it park take the key out go back latter the car wont start.my husband can come get me when he gets there some times it will start sometime not.he thinks it the chip in the key....

Check lights, etc, check battery grounding. If that turns up nothing, your husband just may be right! You also need to check power at small wire connection on starter with key turned to start position . There should be 12v at large connection and 12v with key turned at small one! If there is power at small lead, starter may be bad.
