I have Mazda 6 2007, auto trans, 4 cylinder. The ABS light is on, and the picture of a car with some curly lanes behind is on, the temperature gauge which is at the middle usually goes up and the fans are start working, then the temperature gauge goes down, there is also hard shifting in gears and the overdrive doesnt work. The ABS light can be on for some time, then go off, then on again. Please help. THX
Sounds like more than one problem.
The ABS light is on to tell you the abs system is disabled due to a problem. Same goes for the traction control which could be related to the abs system problem. Both systems have to work together.
The temp gauge issue could be a faulty thermostat or the cooling system could be low on anti-freeze.
The shifting problem could be related to either system.
Testimonial: "Well it turned out to be a Cooling temperature sensor, which costs $25. Easy fix"

I have a Mazda Capella (626) 1998 and had similar problem other than it was running on 4 cylinders and the hand brake light was not on but speedometer was not functioning and the ABS light was on. The rear ABS senssor was the problem.

I had the same problem with ABS light and speedometer, I was told that it is the transmission control module. It has not yet stopped shifting but I have had times where it just wont stay running. It will start and then stall. Hope this helps.

I WOULD NOT KEEP DRIVING IT.WHEN ABS LIGHTS AND BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON.YOU HAVE BRAKE FAILURE. TOW IT TO DEALERSHIP HAVE IT SERVICE.AND CHECK THE ABS BRAKES SYSTEM .BECAUSE ABS BRAKE SYSTEM IS NOT A HOME FIX.BECAUSE THE ABS HYDRAULIC MODULATOR UNIT HAS LOWER FROM HOME POSITION .IN ORDER TO MOVE THE MASTER CYLINDER FROM UNIT.YOU NEED A TECH 2 SCANNER TO DO THE JOB.TO GET ABS BRAKES TO BLEED RIGHT BEST TO GET THEM PRESSURE BLEED INSTEAD OF MANUAL BLEEDING GET LESS AIR IN SYSTEM.THAT WHY SEE DEALER SHIP HAS THE THINGS TO DO THE JOB.

Try the folllowing: 1. Check the clearance between the wheelspeed sensor and the sensor rotor, must be between 0.3 - 1.1mm. 2. Disconnect wheel speed sensor connector and check the resistance at the ABS wheel speed sensor, must be beween 1.4 - 1.8Kω.

well start by checking all fuses but it sounds like a bad ground wire somewhere on the car
