Air shocks, I think my pathfinder needs airshocks,
I have a 93' pathfinder and I think the shocks need to be replaced, If i replace them do I need to replace them with the same kind of air shocks that came on it or can I just use regular shocks.
Re: air shocks, I think my pathfinder needs airshocks,
I to have a pathfinder xe with the sport tuned suspension. they went bad so i replace them with monroe sensatrac ajustable load shocks. those are the best you can buy.

it means the vaccuum pump for the airshocks is not working or these shocks have bottomed out setting off the warning..check the pump, hoses and airbags for leaks.. they should be hissing
Hi, welcome to FixYa.com my name is Shawn and I will be answering your question.
Air ride can get expensive to repair. They have kits to replace the rear air ride with normal springs which is a fraction of the cost. Goto www.strutmasters.com the kit costs $159 to eliminate the air ride. They even show you how to keep the air suspension light from staying on.
I hope my assistance helped you and resolved your concern, if you need further assistance please ask.
I had the similar 'wobble of death' for these late 90's pathfinders. Just change all 8 bushings on REAR lower and upper control arms. That is main problem. Everything else has marginal impact like front control arms, wheel bearings, shocks, etc.
Air shocks or air bag suspension? Shocks can be replaced with a "coil-over" shock like those made by monroe. To replace spring/air bag system, you would need to experiment with spring combination's to find what works...likely more expensive than changing what's wrong with original stuff.
The boots will keep the water, mud, sand, snow, dirt etc away from the struct/shock piston rods. They will last longer. Make sure the boots are secured at both ends. They are simple to install so it should be done.
Yes, I have worked on these for years, the airshocks get old and seep, weather cracks and wear when they get bad they will burn up the pump, there are several solutions, I have removed the air valves and put stop leak in them and been able to get an extra year out of them, your best bet is to replace the air shocks before they burn your pump up. In my opinion.
you would have to unplug compressor and remove airline and tie in a valve like one off of airshocks.
it is usually the air springs that rot and start leaking. so you will probably still leak down. you can replace with coil springs and do away with air ride your continental has airride front and rear?
