95 saturn not starting

1995 saturn with a 1.9 4 cylinder engine, manual transmission. I need to know how to get the codes without using a tester of the sort. I was told there is a way to jump the diagnostic pins to get a flash code on the check engine light.

The car was running, acted like it was running out of fuel, but has a 1/4 tank. Replaced the fuel filter, took the black cap off the incoming fuel line and noticed it had a great amount of pressure from the valve when pressing the needle stem. Also, took off the fuel line turned on the key and saw enormous amounts of gas spewing out of the main line.

The car will try to start and only sputter for a couple seconds when the pedal is held to the floor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

90 to 105 comression on my 95 saturn timing chain broke will it run if i put a new chain in

I'm 99% positive that compression should be more than 200psi. If the chain broke it bent valves. A used motor would be your better option. The 1.9 SOHC is a cheap and common engine. The 1.9 DOHC will be considerably more expensive.

If you have a manual transmission the engine and trans will need to be pulled together and separated out of the car. If you have an automatic transmission the engine can be removed without pulling the transmission.

95 SATURN HOW TO TIGHTEN A GEAR SHIFT LINKAGE

I take it that you have a standard transmission ? there is no adjustment, but on the saturns the plastic insert on the shifter lever (remove the center console) is what breaks, Napa auto parts has the replacement part for about $20, or you can go to saturn and spend $200 on replacing both cables

My 1995 Saturn sl1 engine just won't start ...I'm getting spark and gas and the engine is turning over it just doesn't want to start please help thanks

Engines need three things to run, spark, fuel, compression, all at the right time. If your fuel pressure is good and you have spark then that leaves compression. Before you bother with a compression test first try to spray starter fluid in the intake to see if it will start on that. If it starts, it will die after it burns the fluid but at least you'll know the engine is good and you have a fuel delivery issue. If it won't start on the fluid then you need to do a compression test. You can get a compression tester from any auto parts store (I think even Wal-mart sells them) and follow the directions on the tester to do the test. Write down the results and post them here.

WANT TO PUT A 1996 LS -1 SATURN, MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND MOTOR INTO A 1995 LS-2 SATURN BODY AND CHASSIS. WILL I HAVE TO CHANGE THE COMPUTER? DOES THE DESIGN CHANGE FROM 95 TO 96 EVEN MAKE IT POSSIBLE...

There isn't much difference between them. The SL series didn't change between 95 and 96 except for the ecm is OBD2 on the 96. Are both cars stick shift? The difference in the SL1 and the SL2 are the cams. 1 for sohc and 2 for dohc. So what you are asking is can I take out my dohc motor and install a sohc motor right?

How do i get the slave cylinder out of the trans on a 95 saturn sc1

Unbolt the the two nuts that hold it onto the transmission. Then grab the slave cylinder and turn it counter clockwise and it should pop out. That is correct because holding it in the hole and turning it clockwise seats it back into the transmission.

Remember to remove the connection between the clutch pedal and the master cylinder or put a brick or something to hold the clutch pedal up or else removing the slave cylinder without the above note will ruin the hydraulics and allow air to get into this airless system.

Will a 95 saturn 1.9 manual transmission bolt to a 98 saturn 1.9 automatic transmission?

This is the automotive equivalent of a ***-change operation. In short, dont do it...
The problem you have is not if the tranny will fit (which it won't as a direct bolt-in replacement), the problem is in everything else that needs to be moded. Your engines computer is not programed to recognize or work with a manual tranny. You would need to modify the console to accept a manual shifter, install a clutch and clutch pedal assembly, plumb the needed fluid systems, and replace the entire wiring harness in the engine bay. In short, if you are asking - this won't go well and even if it did work, the car would not be reliable. By the time you spend everything involved in this project, it would be much cheaper to buy a 95 or 98 Saturn with the transmission that you prefer.

Car idle high

Zab, You will need a "scan" tool to read the codes. There are several after market shops the will do this for you free. Auto Zone and others will want to sell you their parts so will pull codes for you.
Let me know what codes you find.
