94 Toyota Camry has rough idle.

We have a 94 Camry LE-4cyl - 2.2 liter with a stubborn rough idle problem. Diagnostics at the dealership suggested changing the front oxygen sensor and spark plugs. This made no difference. Diagnostics did not reveal any problems with timing or vacuum system. Technician recommended changing cap & rotor and adding a can of B-12 to the gas tank. We did...still made no difference. The technician also recommended we start replacing motor mounts even though they appear to be in good condition. I can't help but think it's something else as the engine seems to sputter a bit at resting idle.

Check for a small vacuum leak speciallythe lines going to the throtle have someone look at it while you seat onthe car , idle ,FOOT ON THE BRAKE ! a way to test for leaks if to spray a lil wd40 around the lines an listen if the idle gets better or worst, sometimes the reason the engine runs to rough or lean are vacumm lines that are slightly broken.

A 94 toyota camry le 2 door v6 transmission drive gears not workin but park and reversole do

There are really only 2 possibilities which are within your reach

- low trans fluid level, check that with engine idling
- poorly adjusted shift linkage, see p69 here

http://www.turboninjas.com/camry/ax2.pdf

If anything else has failed, like a shift solenoid, it's really a job for a specialist.

Need help with 2003 toyota camry 4cyl idle

Changing the belt on your car will not make it idle rough, it would not matter if you put it on backwards, upside down, or inside out. The car would just spin the belt off or chew it up. I think that possibly a sensor wire or a vacuum line was broken or knocked off when you were installing the belt. Look for something like that and I think you will find your problem.

1990 camry 4cyl 270k miles intermittant rough idle

Sounds like you have an intermittant problem, check all your wirirng, then you can move on to ignition related coil reluctor wheel ( in side the distribitor electronic control module again inside the distribitor. It could also be a fuel system problem do you hear the fuel pump come on when you turn on the key, the fuel pump should cycle until it devlops adequate pressure ( usually 3 - 4 seconds)

Stupid engine light!!!

is it a V-6 or 4cyl. take it to autozone and have them retrieve the code...I have worked on all models of camrys...many problems can cause this like IAC valve(common on 4cyl) or timing is offset(very common on V-6). Transmission will not cause rough idle. Tacs on these models usually malfunction stemming from distributor cap/coil oil inside or just the tac itself. Hopefully this helps!!
