Hello Joey325,
Look under the hood on the fire wall behind the engine there is a black cover with 3 tall black what look like nuts. remove them and you will see a relay center, now there should be a brown wire marked timing may be not marked but pretty sure its brown just unplug it and go from there. I sure hopes that gets you going and thanks for using

SOURCE: fuel pump wiring diagram 1988 chevy truck

I personally have 1988 GMC truck and had to replace the fuel pump. I found all the info including wiring diagram in a haynes repair manual. These can be purchased in most automotive parts stores. Something I found interesting is that the fuel pump's operation works through the oil pressure switch, located by the distributor screwed into the engine block. If this switch is stuck or sticking it will affect the fuel pump. Replaced a good fuel pump for nothing! The truck had sit up for awhile and the ground wire connections had to be cleaned as well.

Timming a 1997 chevy and finding the wire to unplug

these are usually located on the firewall on the passenger side under a cover that looks like the letter T.remove the cover and look for a tan with a black stripe wire, this is the wire that needs to be disconnected with the car running you should hear a difference in the idle.set timing and reconnect wire then check to make sure check engine light is off.if not start motor disconnect wire, turn off motor and reconnect wire start motor and check the light it should be off.

You will need to put it into base timing mode, should be a tan and white wire on firewall near distributor, then with a timing light you can set the timing, after you have set cylinder 1 at top dead center

I have a c3500 chevy silverado, 7.4 litre engine and the specifications for tuning is not under the hood. I do not know what timing marks should be. Please help. The distributor was removed and repleced to...

Is this tbi? I'll have to look it up but it should be set at zero degrees with the timing connector unplugged, I think. The timing connector is under the plastic relay cover on the passenger side firewall. It is a single wire plug that the wire is tan with a black tracer. With this unplugged you set the timing mark to the large gap on the timing tab.
