Driver side door will not closed. latch will not open in the door

Door is open, latch is closed. Use a screwdriver and place it in the latch. Using the door handle, release the latch while pulling the latch open. Now, close the door.

Check door latch point on your door. It maybe in closed position. Take a small screw driver or needle nose pliars and open latch. After you open latche then spray with a dry lubrcant such as graphite or wd 40 spray. Also lube locking latch on car frame

place a round bar ( phillips screw driver blade) under the latch and pull the latch out while pressing the open buttons.

Your door ajar system is tied into the door latch mechanism. if the door still appears to close tightly, and the door latch works properly, then you may need to adjust or replace the latch, though ford has listed a cleaning procedure for the latch that involves using a tool to test latch position and manually closing the latch (while door is OPEN) using a screwdriver 10-20x and monitoring to see if the latch consistently shows CLOSED and OPEN when it should.
If pushing the door closed after its already closed causes the lamp to turn off, an adjustment of the latch may help, or cleaning the latch contacts may also help. If the door never shows latched regardless of how hard it is pushed, it may be a defective latch, or a wiring problem (Door wires sometimes break in the door harness between the door and the side of the dashboard when the harness enters the vehicle).

if you talking about door latch wont let door close.try to reset all door locks.first if you cant get door close.work unlock button with remote or door switch.then hold open door handle while you flat screw driver pull up latch in door latch should stay up so door will close.once get door close.try resetting all door locks by sitting inside vechicle with all doors close.remove key from ignition.open drivers door.wait 24 seconds.turn ignition switch on and back to lock position 3 times.press and release drivers door courtesy light 3 times.ensure doors lock and unlock.if not wait 40 seconds and repeat procedure.if this procedure fails. you have problem in the door latch and lock mechanism inside the door itself.

Just a suggestion as I have seen this before--with door open pull up on outside handle and in door there is a curved latch that can be pulled open with a screwdriver---the hook is likely closed and with opening pressure on the outside handle you should be able to snap it open so the door will close properly---often happens if someone snaps it by accident closed (the hook latch).

The door sensor is inside the latch it probably got wet this happen to my 07 aura take a clean spay bottle full of rubbing alcohol and spay it into the latch soak the intire latch very well by the next day it should have evaporated all the water it fixed mine hope this helps

Drivers side door will not close because, it might have dropped out of alignment and is sagging down slightly!!! or if it has electric door locks, and someone in the family has failed to mention door locks were activated while that one door was still open!!! now lock mechanism has passed it's normal stopping place and is now stuck, therefore already locked and not allowing door to close all the way!! you might try disconnecting battery then try jiggling the lock, and hope silenoid didn't get burned out, open passenger door and look at lock latch, then check drivers side lock latch!!! if your lucky lock latch should unlock when battery is hooked back up. i have seen this problems happen often on older vehicles!!! especially on cars or trucks that have been in fender benders.........body shops know what to check for, they fix problems like this often!!!!! It sounds to me ( correct me if I'm wrong ) like the door latch on the side vertical edge of the door is in the LOCKED POSITION. In order to unlock it perform the following. First electrically with the LOCK button UNLOCK the locks. Now with one hand hold the OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE IN THE OPEN POSITION, while at the same time FLIPPING OPEN THE LATCH. All Done . Now you can close the door. Hope this helps

If the door itself will not stay closed then it is not the power locks but the latch that is malfunctioning, the locks only allow or disallow the latch from opening when you try to open the door.  Thoroughly lubricate the latch mechanism on the door with something like WD-40 and inspect it for damage, make sure the bolts that hold the latch within the door are tight and are aligned correctly.  After you lubricate it, close and open the door to work the lubricant in.  Also if you have child lock switches on the door, make sure the switch is fully off or on.  If all else fails then the handle/latch mechanism may need to be replaced.
