This is a pretty easy fix.

1. Keep you foot on the break and turn the car on.
2. Press the odometer/trip button until your dash displays the odometer mileage.
3. Turn the car off and while keeping your foot on the break, restart the car by pressing the on button.
4. Immediately press and hold down the Odometer/trip button for at least 10 seconds.
5. While still holding down the Odometer/trip button put the car in reverse. You will hear the reverse beeping. Then push the park button.
6. You can now release the Odometer/trip button and if you keep pushing the button you can toggle the beep to come on or turn off by looking on your dash. It should say "b-on" or "b-off".
7. Toggle it to the "b-off" setting and put your car in reverse and that annoying beep should be turned off.

  • Power on the car to IG-ON or READY. IG-ON will do for this purpose.
  • Using the Trip/ODO button, set the Trip/ODO display to ODO - not Trip A or Trip B
  • Power off the car.
  • Now power the car to READY (brake on). This is required so that step 6 works correctly.
  • Immediately, within 6 seconds of powering on, press and hold the Trip/ODO button for 20 seconds or more. Do not release, just hold it for 20 seconds.
  • Then WHILE STILL HOLDING ODO button, shift the "gear" selector from Park to R, then press the Park button. Now release the Trip/ODO button.
  • If the last step was successful, b on or b off should be displayed in the location where the Trip Odometer or Odometer is normally displayed. b on is beep on, and b off is beep off.
  • Press the Trip/ODO button to toggle the mode to the one you want.
  • Now power the car off to exit the toggle mode.
  • Power the car on to READY and confirm the reverse beep status by shifting to R. The beep should not be audible if b off was selected, and should be audible if b on was selected.

I just bought a 2005 Prius..what are some tips for a new Prius owner? Things I need to know? Also can I turn off the beeping when in reverse?? Its annoying! Thanks

you have two coolant systems on a hybrid. both systems should of had the coolant changed (due @100k). Spark plugs should of been changed (due @120k). those re the two high mileage maintence items I would be sure were done. Toyota dealer can change the beep to a single beep instead of a constant beeping.

My 2008 prius abs and brake light came on and the the brakes became very hard and constant beep noise, so how to fix it as its really irritating continuous noise beep.

The ABS system is in need of immediate service. The hard pedal is the ABS/Hydraulics malfunctioning and beeping to let you know. Could be a sensor or module maybe a wiring/connection issue but have it serviced ASAP . A bad vacuum supply to the booster or booster diaphragm can also cause a hard pedal and any could light the warning light.

How do I get 2001 Celica to stop beeping when I lock - unlock doors thus enabling and disabling the alarm? Thanks, Nina

Hi Nina, there are a few different combinations depending on year and model of alarm, for yours could you try disconnecting the battery again, turn the ignition key to accessory.....the one before ignition start and then reconnect the battery. Let me know if it disables the beeps!

    Beeping when backing up

hi pam from the uk ! the reverse signal/beep can be disconnected however there are different methods of how the beep is operated ? in uk some cars have the reverse light bulbs that are also a beep sounder when reverse engaged ? orthe sounder may be a seperate sounder unit at the rear located either in boot? or behind rear fender? or as you mention beep sounds inside boot area?? the sounder may be hidden behind one of the side panels in boot? if you put ignition on and select reverse then try finding beep location? if/when you find it? just disconnect wirefrom sounder and make sure reverse light/s still remain on tape up the wire disconnected out of way? if it is the bulbs that bleep? you will have to remove and fit an ordinary type bulb usually a flasher/ indicator bulb? hope this is of help and inspires you to diy ? best wishes
