Two things -- the fuel filter may be blocked and the pressure regulator may not be holding pressure. Replace the filter and have a pressure test done on the fuel manifold to check pump and regulator.. Check that the cat converter is not cracked and blocking the exhaust system

is it fitted correctly? If it is not fitted correctly it will do this. Have you checked the relay?

You have to bleed the system, most likely air, or you blew the fuel pump fuse !

A6 2.4 no spark petrol pump not pumping

Your fuel pump will not pump if sufficient pressure already exists at the fuel rail. My best guess is that your timing belt slipped off or broke.

Audi a6 with 2.4 engine

Hello.

Can be alot of causes. Most common:

Egr clap closed - doesn t allow air intake - car also blows black smoke while cranking.

Fuel intake
- low pressure fuel pump - located inside the fuel tank - may be burnt
- high pressure fuel pump - engine bay - also may be burnt
- not enough fuel inside the tank
- fuel leaks before reaching injectors

etc

Hope it helps

I have a 2009 chevy cobalt and i ran it out of gas still have power but it wont start when i added gas plus its about 17 degrees outside does this change anything

fuel pumps need fuel to lubricate the little plastic gears that pump the petrol. No fuel=no lubrication= dead pump. Try a new pump and ensure that there is always enough petrol in the tank. It takes a lot less than 17 degrees to freeze petrol. Have a pressure test done on the fuel manifold to check pump operation. regulator operation and fuel filter.

Car doesnt start straight away and cuts out in 1st gear.

you should never run the fuel tank not much lower than 1/4 for long times , You may have a dirty fuel filter or the fuel pump maybe burn out almost . What happens is the fuel pump is cool by the fuel in the tank, after 9 years of service the pump gets to hot went it runs out of fuel. you will have to have it tested with a fuel pressure gauge.and a flow volume test. Change the fuel filter first see if it runs better. good luck.

Fuel pump

you are up against some diabolical engineering.
When I dismantled my pintara fuel pump I found that nissan engineers think it is good to put 12V CONNECTORS INSIDE THE FUEL TANK!
Have you tried tapping the housing with a spanner before starting the engine? worked for me. Its a circular housing behind the rear seat. Dont replace pump with a GOSS fuel pump they are useless.
Anyway I'll never buy another car that has high current electrical connectors immersed in petrol vapour!
I think the best thing to do is put another fuel pump in the engine bay. Also check the modulator. Its the black thing at the end of the fuel rail.
The best advice I can offer is DONT BUY A NISSAN!!!!!
