2001 Buick Regal, Rear speakers not working properly

When I dial the fade to the rear speakers there is barely any sound. The speakers sound like a loud pair of headphones when the volume is turned up. The speakers are fully intact and there are no tears in them. The wiring right at the speakers is still completely connected with no loose wires. This car does NOT have the monsoon system in it but the standard system. Thanks

Well the voice coils in the speakers may be fried, or on their way out. Has anyone been simply turning it up too loud, or too bassy, or at obscene levels.
