I have a Nissan Titan 2006, I noticed that the engine oil pressure stays on the High side if running and stays in between Low and High when its on idle. Can you help please?

Oil Pressure is on the high side when its running. What is wrong with this? Any suggestion?

Hi junr67, I want to help you with your problem, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box? When you say it is running do you mean driving down the road or do you mean just with the engine idling?

Check your oil level, make sure it is not over filled. Cold weather will also effect viscosity and pressure. To me high is better than low..

SOURCE: 2006 Nissan Titan high oil pressure

How high are we talking? You have verified this is the correct pressure with a mechanical test gauge? If not do that first, if the pressure is normal then replace the sending unit first.

I have a 2004 Nissan Titan with 98,500. Yesterday my oil pressure gauge started staying on high all the time while the truck is on. When i turn it off then the gauge drops all the way.

Replace oil pressure sending unit. Sender is located on the engine block close to the oil filter. Usually has one wire connected to it.

My 2005 nissan titan oil pressure gauge just jumped to high. I turned the motor off and turned the key on without starting the motor and it went to normal. Soon as I starred the motor, it jumped right back...

When you say it was "normal" with the engine off and the key on, do you mean normal as 40-50 psi, or normal, as 0 psi since the engine was off and there should be no oil pressure? This is important because if you are reading 40-50 psi with the engine off, it is not surprising that the gauge goes "too high" once you start the engine. If the gauge is at 40-50 psi with the engine off and the key on, then there is a problem with the gauge or the sensor. It is not an overpressure issue. As long as the engine seems to be running normally otherwise and is not clacking internally or other such things that would indicate oil pressure issues, I would feel safe using the vehicle until I could have the oil pressure circuit diagnosed and repaired.

Take it to some place like autozone and have them read the codes for free, that will tell you what the issue is.

High oil pressure alarm on titan

titan engines are pretty bullet proof. we dont see any issues with those. what oil grade are you using?? it calls for 5w30. If you are ok there, than i would look at the oil pressures sending unit first. about $40 piece. nothing expensive. i would rool out engine issue or oil pump problem.
