95 GMC Sierra 4 wheel drive won't engage

A couple weeks ago the 4-wheel drive in my 95 GMC Sierra quit working. It has the shift lever in the floor. The 4-wheel drive indicator light don't come on. If the actuator has quit working will the 4-wheel drive indicator light stop working also ? And if you remove the actuator but reconnect the wires, then engage 4-wheel drive, shouldn't the actuator do something if its working correctly ?

SOURCE: 05 GMC sierra heater blower

The resistor is most likely bad but should still work on the highest setting.Would check pigtails to the resistor and to the blower motor for burnt or discolored wiring. You can try tapping the blower motor and wiggling the wiring harness too see if it will work on the highest setting. It is possible that the blower motor is bad as well typically when you lose the speed selection it is the resistor but you should always have high speed.

SOURCE: Front wheels won't engage when in 4 wheel

Then the problem would be in the differential. something came loose or broke off the actuator on the inside

Drive forward, put it in neutral, the into reverse. If you have not used the 4wd for awhile it will need vacuum to activate and disengage

SOURCE: Front drive, 4 Wheel drive won't engage

Check the switch on the transfercase remove the vacume lines if there is oil in them the switch has to be replaced and the lines should be cleaned out you should also check under the battery tray to make sure the boot is not ripped that controls the leaver to engage the front axel

4 wheel drive tries to engage going down the road while shift lever still in 2H

Then you need to check the linkage underneath the floor where it connects to the transfer case, and make sure it isn't loose or mal-adjusted.

It started with pulling 4 wheel drive lever to engage 4 wheel drive. It would take couple of seconds to engage. Finally engage light would appear showing engage. The light would blink a few times before...

Check the linkage under the vehicle that goes from your shift lever to a rod that then goes to the transmission lever. Sometimes a coupling will come loose. Simple return it to its' original position and re-tighten. Let me know if this helps. Thanks.
