Knocks, Low Power

My son's Tracker is knocking and has very little power. I put two quarts of oil in it and some Lucas oil treatment in it. Still has the same problem.

The engine may have dropped a rod this can cause it not to have any power and have a knocking sound

SOURCE: low oil pressure

Sounds like you have an internal engine problem. the only way to be sure is to check the oil pressure with an external gauge.

SOURCE: 1999 Suburban, 5.7L loss of power then, it seems

Replace spark plug wires and plugs. Sometimes old wires will arc to the engine block, causing missfire. Check the wires at night with lights off and engine running, if they're bad, you'll defenitely see them arcing to the engine. if they are...replace.

SOURCE: knocking when engine gets hot and car stopped

The fan clutch can make a knocking noise when it tries to engage. At idle it will have a rhythm to it when it tries to engage. You will have an over heating condition and the air conditioning may not work properly.

The fix is to replace the fan clutch and reprogram the engine control module.

Put a bottle oil Lucas oil treatment in your next oil change. If your car holds 5 quarts of oil put 4 quart and a bottle of Lucas oil treatment. And that should help you. And you will have to do this every oil change.

Your hearing lifter noise common in most cars in cold weather I have a 2001 sc1 same engine as yours here's how to get rid of that ticking sound go buy a quart of Lucas synthetic motor treatment change your oil and leave it 1 quart low add the Lucas synthetic oil stabilizer within 1 week you will not hear the noise agian reason your hearing the noise is there's no oil at the top of the engine on a cold start oil when cold is thicker hints why your noise in your engine what Lucas does is eliminate the dry start by the way my engine has 288,000 and does not use a drop of oil after you use this product you should use it every oil change you will see your car will thank you regards Chris

I have a 98 chevy venture and it sounds like it is knocking on the drivers side under the hood. But the knock stops as soon as you hit 50. Before you hit 50 it get louder. Can you tell me what it is?

if it is a little tapping then it is a lifter that is trying to leak down overnight , as you were suspecting, the only way to fix it is to replace them but they are roller lifters and are expensive to replace, you can try some Lucas oil additive on the next oil change, put a quality 10w40 oil and 1 whole quart of Lucas engine oil additive and if it is caused by varnish build up the lucas will solve the issue, if is a worn seal it will help it, but it has collapsed internally ,nothing will help it but a new lifter. But it is worth a try sinc ethe Lucas is less than $8.00 a bottle, just remember that this stuff is very thick , so the engine needs to be warm and running when it is added to correctly blend with the oil ,and do its job correctly. do not add the Lucas without draining out a quart as it will overfill the engine oil

Engine Knock on a 98 Isuzu Rodeo

Most likely it is a rod bearing and motor would have to be dissassembled to diagnose, you might want think about installing a low milege used replacment since it was run 5 quarts low on motor oil.

Lifter noise

This is a very common issue with General Motors. I have never bothered to try and fix it because it is not causing any harm. It is because General Motors still uses a push rod motor and the cold oil causes it to knock a little until the oil gets warmed up.
