Why are you *changing* the tappets rather than just adjusting them to remove valve lash (the ticking sound)?

You realise to change the valves, the cylinder head has to come off and you will need to hire special tools?

this engine will have hydraulic tappets and will not be adjustable . If the tappets are noisy it will probably be worn rocker arm bushes / shafts or faulty lifter units.. Contact a Honda specialist for an inspection before deciding on spending money

You will need a "tappet gauge/blade" and then here is what you have to do:
1. open engine head, its the cover of engine where HONDA is written.
2. Now jack up and one side of the car and put the car in 4th gear
3. Start from any one side, if the tappet is not in "UP" position then rotate the wheel (the jacked up side of car) and once the tappet moves up, stop there.
4. Loosen the nut of the tappet and put the tappet blade in between the tappet gap. Now using screw driver, tighten the tappet so that blade fits snugly between the gap and without moving anything (blade and screw driver) ask a helper to tighten the tappet nut finally.
5. Repeat above procedure for each tappet.

If you do it carefully, there will be no tappet sound at all.

set ur engine at top dead center get tappet clearence data from manufacture using feeler gages adjust

if manual adjustable tappets then 12 inlet and 15th exhaust will suffice but isnt this vehicle fitted wth hydraulic adjusting tappets??

Intake valve clearance 0.15mm-0.19mm (6-7 thou); Exhaust clearance 0.17mm-0.21mm (7-8 thou). All measurments COLD engine. 2.2 VTEC Prelude engine 1992-1996, import and UK.

pcv valve should be located on the valve cover..but some new vehicles don't have one it is built into the valve cover itself..

This car has hydraulic lifters( tappets} therefore should not adjustment, you probably have a bad or weak lifter. But, in any case you have to remove the valve covers to make the adjustment. You will see the adjustable bolt on the rocker arm. rotate the engine until the valve is all the way to the top, [no tension on the valve spring] then place a feeler Gage in between the rocker arm and the valve stem, adjust the rocker arm until the feeler Gage is snug but not tight. Do this with each valve. Check the book for the correct Gage to use but I think it is a .018.
