Hi!
This problem you are experiencing is possibly your Service overdue light, reminding you each mile past shown by a - so if you are worried then a trip to your local dealer to have it done.

I have a symbol of a car with a spanner thru it come up on my dash in a Holden astra ts 2004

If it is a white outline of a car with a white vertical spanner (British word for wrench I understand), it only means "Service Required".

Give a call to a Holden dealership to ask about the symbol, and if it sounds like something they know about before agreeing to pay for Service.

I have a spanner symbol on my 407. what does this mean??

You need to carry out the periodical car service due (e.g. engine oil & filter, air filter, fuel filter, cabin air filter). The "service" spanner symbol "reset" button is placed on the lower right corner of the dashboard. See picture below:

tdisline_303.jpg
Then you should reset the "service" spanner symbol by pressing on the "reset" button on dashboard, when ignition key is in OFF position. Hold the button pressed and turn ignition key in ON position. Hold the button pressed and see on the dashboard successive numbers will appear: "10", "9", "8", ... , "1", "0". Then release the button and switch OFF the ignition key. The "service" spanner symbol followed by "20000 km" (or "30000 km" depending of the engine type), will appear for few seconds after turning ignition key in ON position, and will dissapear after engine starting. The car service due was reseted.

Please do rate my response. Thanks!

The check engine light (spanner) came on and I saw a message saying that oil life is less that 15%. I quickly went and serviced the car but the spanner sign did no go. Please advise me on what to do.

Place the key into the #2 position (do not start engine). With the oil remaining light showing on the odometer, press and hold reset post for 10 seconds until it starts blinking, then let go. Press it again for 5 seconds and it should reset back to 100%.

Short in my dashboard and odemeter does not work unless you tap the dashbboard with my hand. Dash lights will stay on after starting truck. have to tap dash to make the lights go out.

You've got the problem right on the nose but trouble shooting electrical problems sight unseen is just stabbing in the dark. The only thing I can suggest is since your dash work from one large circuit board check the connections to the board and check the board for cracks.

Hi, honda 2006 model showing the sign of a spanner on the screen

I just checked on that one, they said to disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, and the lights will reset? I have heard this but never had to try it. Your spanner is scheduled maint and the oil light you know. And they both should be resettable. Hope this helps.

LIGHT IN DASH BOARD

DO NOT operate your CRV until you have drained the coolant from the engine and radiator, then flush the system thoroughly w/ water.. Why did you add liquid detergent to the radiator? This will cause foaming of the detergent, and will probably result in diminished cooling of the system. Please describe the dashboard light that's on . Is it some type of symbol? Do you notice anything unusual about how the car is running? Please let me know the answers to the above questions, and the outcome. countrycurt0

Spanner sign with 500,100 and 0

The spanner or wrench you are seeing indicates how many miles are remaining before your vehicle is supposed to have the oil changed. Normally this is about a 10,000 mile interval and may be reset after an oil change by following this procedure...

Do the following steps:
Move start switch to position "2".
Within the first 4 seconds after moving the start switch to position 2, press the reset button for the trip counter twice within one second. The display for the service request is activated for about 10 seconds.
Within these 10 seconds, move the start switch into position "0". The service request continues to be displayed.
Press the reset button for trip counter and keep it pressed.
Move the start switch into position "2".
Continue to hold the reset button for the trip counter pressed until the signal sounds and the new start distance appears in the display (it takes about 10 seconds).
