For the record: if the sensors they're referring to are the input or output shaft speed sensors, they are very easy to find...just remove the air intake box (where the air filter is) and they're right there on top of the transmission. Input sensor is the one closer to the front of the vehicle, output towards the rear.

Both sensors, input and output are under the air cleaner box. Remove the box, ( black box that hold the air cleaner). three or 4 bolts hold it down, 13 mm maybe. Once removed you will see the transmission. The INPUT speed sensor is under the bracket that holds the shift linkage cable down. Remove the two bolts that hold it down and pull it as you rotate the braket towards the drivers side fender, you only need to move it a couple you will see it there, it's very small with a one plug wire attached. This connector is usually siliconed together, you'll probably break it taking it apart, but only one small bolt holds down the sensor. Remove the bolt and pull it out. Be carefull, there will be allot of dirt and debris built up around it, I would clean the area before removing, you don't want sand and old oil residue falling into the trans. The output speed sensor is about a foot away, towards the fire wall, in the middle back part of the trans. it's very accesible from the top with a 10mm socket and a long extension, use two together to get the length, longer the better. Again one small bolt, sensor pulls out, but remember, the sensors connectors will probably be siliconed together, you will probably break the connectors in a fit of rage. These parts are very cheap plastic and if the car is old 2002-2005, they will be very dry and brittle, have electrical tape at the ready to hold the connections together !! Hope this helps.

What was the codes exactly that Auto Zone gave you.??? it might just be a simple wire harness that may have gone loose since you did some work on the speed sensor.

Replaced output speed sensor on 2002 kia sedona a few times.

Given the transaxle & the age

I would say it is time to either
part with the vehicle, that would be
my suggestion, while you can, or have the
transaxle rebuilt

Lets be realistic here

Were any of those sensors ever tested
or failed a test,I doubt it

Again-- as with the couple thousand lost souls
that come here every week, you do have a check
light on- so you start there as always

I owned a trans shop, your trans is worn out ,enough said

The shifting symptoms are telling you the problems, like it
is talking to you,now you continue to drive it as everyone does
& ruin it for good

Where is the transmission speed sensor on a 2002 kia sedona

looking from above you need to remove the air filter housing to make life simple. look down the back over the starter motor and you will see the diff housing with the sensor just on the top. from underneath you wont see it but its easy to feel.

I have a 2002 kia sedona and occacionly the car jumps while i am driving and then runs very rough...I have learned that when i shut the car off and turn it back on it seems to run normal again

Sounds like either an input or an output shaft speed sensor. In a nut shell, the transmission's shifting is controlled electronically; at a stop or very slow speed, the transmission is automatically in first gear...when these sensors 'sense' that the vehicle is travelling at a certain speed, it tells the transmission to shift into second. At the next specified speed, it shifts into third; etc. etc. What it sounds like is that one of these sensors is going bad, telling the transmission to downshift, but the other sensor is fighting that command and causing the vehicle to 'act' like it's running rough, when in reality it's probably just the transmission rapidly jumping between gears. These sensors aren't particularly cheap, but are pretty easy to replace. Start by finding a shop that will plug in a code reader for you (or do it yourself if you have one). You're looking for a code in the range of 0715 to 0723. If it reads 0715 to 0718, that's the input side. 0720 to 0723 is the output side. Good luck.

Kia 2002

Sounds like the transmission is downshifting to passing gear. Might the electronic control module for the transmission. Have someone pull the codes from the computer, I'll bet there is one in there for the transmission.
