Where can I find a repair manual for my 1999 Subaru outback? I need to find the location and test values of the knock sensor. Test values for the O2 sensor (the one before the Catylatic) also.
The best is to get a tech manual from the dealer, but it could cost a lot, sometimes ebay has them for older cars when people get rid of them. Hayes is usually detailed enough to give you the test values for an O2 sensor and cost $20. Try a NAPA or PepBoys and look through a Hayes manual, if it does haven't it, you'll need a tech manual.
Haynes makes the best manual in my opinion, Part #89100. But to answer your questions,The knock sensor you just check for continuity between terminal and ground on block. There should be none. If there is it is bad. On the First O2 sensor, should produce a steady reading of .01 to .02 volts. after warming up about 2 minutes, it should fluctuate between .1 and .9 volts, meaning it has reached closed loop status. I hope this helps a little and have a good day.

In response to knock sensor...Checked continuity and there is none. Is it possible it could be bad anyway and no continuity. I also checked the O2 sensor and it read between .1 and .9 (increased as engine heated. Any other solutions and do you know if this is a problem with all Subaru's. Friend has same problem as well. Thank you much
