Emissions Code Hi, I have a 2000 Toyota Tundra 6cyl 3.4L that has a check engine light that is on. I should note that the gas gauge is broken also and swings around violently sometime. I had it checked and the following codes come up: The MIL is commanded On. Emissions_related powertrain DTCs, Mode 3 Electronic control Unit ID: 10 P0441 EVAP control System Incorrect Purge Flow Continuously monitored systems DTCs, Mode 7: Electronic Control Unit ID:10 P0441 EVAP control system Incorrect Purge Flow That is it. I am trying to get it passed CA emissions and have been looking for a solution. I replaced the EVAP canister, (with a used part) and I still get the codes. I am now looking at the PWM Vacuum Sensor or the Gas gauge. I have been told that the gas gauge would not cause an emissions code like this. other than that I guess I could replace the fuel filter. Any thoughts. Thanks Very Much Danny

When the light flashes, it is indicating that you can damage the emissions part of the system. ie... catalitic converter. When the light comes on it does set a code, intermittant, the light might go off , but the code is stored. have this checked. It will lead you/ us in the right direction. As ther are many things that can be wrong to make the light flash. Check this soon because it will only get worse and cause other problems. ie.. nip it in the bud Let me know

2005 toyota tundra has engine light on, local shop said possible engine miss or a oxygen sensor/ catalytic converter. any way to isolate on of the two. approx 97000 miles

it could be one of several reasons from a loose gas cap to any sensor for fuel , emissions etc. get the engine hooked to a good scan tool not just a code scanner by someone who can understand the readings and diagnose from there

Make sure it is a o2 malfunction before changing it,the o2 just gives information mainly,the generic code is a mass air flow sensor,and this would be more like what the problem is.

Sounds like the fuel pressure regulator. Check to be sure your fuel pump is pumping gas up to the fuel rails. You can usually hear the fuel pump kick on at the gas cap. I would change the fuel filter while you're at it. Just to be sure there's no trash caught within the filter.

have you had the the engine codes pulled and reset?
and if so what are your engine codes?
i dont know of any car that will pass emissions test with the engine light on.
we cure your trouble that caused your engine light to come on and you will pass your test.

2000 tundra v-8

No special processes. Just unplug the wire and remove the bolts. Very easy to do.

Are you tightening your gas cap enough after you fillup?

I had a problem also w/ the ck engine light and was told to click the gas cap when putting it back on after a fillup.

Problem never returned.

Fault Location:
Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System - Incorrect Flow Detected
Possible Cause:
Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) active.
- Purge control VSV connector disconnected.
- Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve is faulty/jammed.
- Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Solenoid Valve faulty/jammed.
- Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Sealing faulty.
- Pipes between Tank Breathing and Throttle Body leaky/blocked.
- Hose connection(s).
- Intake leak.
Solutions:
- Check Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve.
- Perform Output Test.
- Check Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Solenoid Valve.
- Check Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister.

Test the purge valve and the vent valve for leaks. This can only be done with a Tech 2 and or a vacuum pump.

Code P1870 is a transmission code for excessive slipage. this can be caused by allot things inside the transmission. clutch wear, seals worn out. some checking will be required. the first thing to do, is have the vehicle driven with a scan tool that reads real time data. just a code reader. this will pinpoint the problem to the inside of the tranmission. in some cases just a replacement valve body inside the trans will correct this code. another way you can handle this, drop the transmsission pan down, if there is allot of debris in the body of the pan, then you can pretty much count on a complete overhaul of transmission
