I am having a problem with my Expedition, when I press the button for the heat to blow through the back floor it doesn't work. The heat will only blow from the roof. I turned the knob for rear control and pressed the button from the back, it still doesn't work. So, the floor vents are not working, just only the roof air vents. I have the same problem on my 04 Expedition XLT, but with my front vents. Fan and temp controls work fine, but the vent doors have stopped working. I only get air through the defrost vents. Is this my front blend door actuator?
No airflow (cold or hot) through main vent ducts. Can hear the blower working, can feel air coming from in and around the dash area. Seems lik something is blocking the majority of air from coming through the vent openings. They(vents) are open but no air.
The guys that mentioned that it was due to a loss of vacuum are absolutely correct. Its a tube located on the firewall right next to the battery. The hose connects to a 3-way T-fitting assy.
If you can locate the windshield tubing and where it connects to, The tube is right below that, it follows another line to the same firewall seal.
I had the same issue, the tube had actually disintergrated, so I clipped the end of the longer piece and reconnected it. Started up the car and just like that I get airflow coming out the main vents.

I was told that on the 2004 their was no vacuum, it was electric.
Ok, thanks. Any advice on what to look for under the hood in regards to the vacuum. Is this a hose, a rip or maybe a clamp that has fallen off?
Thanks
it's a manual switch or nob on the dash, but was told that the 2004 did not use a vacuum to push air through the vents, but I guess they where wrong.
It was the small vacuum tube, it's black and is the size of a ball point pen tube. On my 04 Expedition it was on the LH side on the back fire wall next to the battery, it's at the top of the fire wall real easy access. It looked like the battery leaked some acid on the tube and it came off. Once I cleaned it out and put it back on, I started the truck up and presto I was back in business. Let me if you have any questions.
Thanks for all your help guys
Steve
I'm having the same problem. Did you find the leak or is it just stuck? Thanks, Chris
vacuum comes from the engine and is stored in a cannister located on the right side fender well behind the battery tray
your blend door affects temperature of the air coming out of any vent, the vent it comes out of is a function of the selector switch, which directs the air to the desired location. is you system electronically controlled or vacuum?
the blend door is electric, not the mode control doors, which is your problem.
this is not blend door problems, blend doors control temp. You have a loss of vacuum, check under the hood and make sure the AC controls have vacuum from the engine.
On my 2007 Ford Expedition XLT EL, no heat will blow out of the front vents, front floor vents, or the roof vents But it will through the rear floor vents. And you can hear the actuator door switching from cold to hot but no heat. Can someone please help me?
