Larry,
problem can be electrical or fuel system,
first of all check the ignition key switch and its relative wire harness for loose connection.
it can be happen because of fuel injection failure ,then go to the mechanic and you can rectify the problem.
regards,
nuwan

They're charging you for it? Since your car's only 2 years old, they should be covering it under warranty. Timing Chains don't break normally, and when they do, usually it's on a much older car. Mazda should be covering the costs for this under the power train warranty (which is good for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first)

are there any fault codes present? i was looking at the fuel injection diagram on autozone.com and the only thing i can see that controls injector pulse width is the pcm. are all the injectors open for 15ms? you should also check fuel pressure. if you want to look at the diagram, go to autozone.com. register and enter you car. select repair guides, chassis electrical and the wiring diagrams

I have an Ignition Issue with a 1991 Mazda B2600i 4x4?

That sounds like either a fuel issue; too rich, or an air leak in the manifold.
If it were an ignition issue, it woukd cut out, not run rough.

The coil wire slide on type ( not Bolt on ) have a tendansy to expand if they get to hot, thus causing an open in your ignition system and shutting down your engine. much the same as driving down the highway and sudenly turning off your key. After a period of cool down you turn the key and the motor firers up right away because the coil cap has had a chance to cool down as well and cuntract to its original shape ounce again and is ounce again making proper contact, untill it gets to hot again and then the same thing will happen.Solution replace the coil half cap and wires to it.

Mazda Tribute 2002 engine cuts out randomly

I had a Mazda 626 with a similar problem, the car seemed to 'shut down' with no warning, even at highway speeds, as if I just turned the ignition key to 'Off'; After trying to fix it unsuccessfully by replacing several electrical parts, the problem was found to be a defective ignition switch, it was replaced and the problem went away.
