I changed waterpump in 98 GMC jimmy and now AC blows hot. Was told it needs "flash programing" from dealer because I disconnected battery. Is there anything I can do instead of taking it to dealer?
OK, looks like your temperature control cable is damaged. you will need to replace this.
Driving the vehicle at that rate of speed will not fix this issue.

Actually, emissionwiz is correct on this one. your vehicle dose have a Blend door Actuator and, during the disconnection of the battery, there may have been a short that produced a Oe Failure.
I have just confirmed this and i retract my previous statements. i do apologize for the confusion due to my conflicting assessment.
The replacement Blend door Actuator will cost 139.99 and, it is not easy to replace if you are not a skilled GMC tech.
Under these circumstances, i would recommend Diagnostic scan(flash). the actual problem is quite hard to detect at this point so, this flash will be more accurate and, it will also pinpoint the issue at hand that is causing this disruption of proper air flow.

TRY DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY FOR 5 MINUTES AND SEE IF IT COOLS AGAIN, SOUNDS LIKE A TEMP CONTROL BLEND DOOR PROBLEM. DISCONNECT THE NEG CABLE OF THE BATTERY.
No it doesn't sound like a likely fix, something has gone wrong with the blend door motor actuator, that much is certain
YOUR TRUCK DOESN'T HAVE A TEMP CONTROL CABLE, IT IS ELECTRONIC CONTROL VIA A SERVO MOTOR.

yes compressor does work. You can here the pressure trying to change and it starts to cool for a split second then goes right back to hot. Worked perfectly fine before changing water pump
OK disconnected battery for 5 min and same thing. Started to blow cool then right back to hot
local mechanic told me to drive 45mph or more for 10minutes and it might reset itself. Does this sound likely?
is the blend door motor actuator an easy fix? Where is it located?

Ok guys thanks for all your help. GM dealership here wants to charge me $110 to do a "flash programming". They said it would reset my AC and or tell me what problem is. Should I have this done or no?

Yeah, never heard of flashing an AC system.lol
Check the clutch action under the hood. it should click when the compressor is engaging. if not, this is a bad clutch assembly. check the AC switch in the dash as well. make sure it is functional.
who told u this? (because it is 100% WRONG) does the ac compressor run?
