I will be replacing my 5th battery in my 2007 Chevy Equinox in the past 2 years. I had a fire inside the drivers side door, short outs in the electrical console, windows stuck in the down position in the middle of winter, Alternator replaced, and Onstar short out. I've been blatantly lied to by the mechanics in Duluth - told they've never heard of that happening and charged $200 for an electrical check and now once again, dead battery. When is Chevrolet going to own up to the fact that the electrical system in its Equinox is a disaster?!
I haven't heard about problems like that other than in a flood damaged vehicle.Did you buy it new?
To check for a battery drain yourself, disconnect the battery large cable and place a 12 volt test light between the cable and the battery positive. If you see a bright light on the test light you do have a vehicle drain,if it's dim don't worry about it.Now,if the light is bright pull one fuse at a time until the light goes dim, this will be the circuit draining and you can now trouble shoot that circuit.Don't cause a bright light by opening a door or turning on the key.DO NOT TRY AND START THE VEHICLE while the test light is hooked up.
SOURCE: new battery and alternator. Battery still won't hold charge
Check all your fuses if you had a system failure it could have blown a fuse. I am not sure on your vehicle where the fuse is in the car or under the hood it could also have a relay. You can check your alternator by checking the voltage at the back of the alternator where the big wire bolts on. You should have 14+ volts at the alternator.

Just figured it out and replicated it 3 times..
any type of power/voltage change seems to trigger this issue
The most common symptom is power locks fail and only the driver window quits, however that is on the extended cab.
Steps to fix and it works every time.
take door panel off driver's door
Disconnect the wiring attached to window and power lock control unit
disconnect battery cables
connect the negative to the positive cable(((NO BATTERY CONNECTED)))
This will act to short residual voltage in the system
5 minutes later
place the key in the ignition and turn to the run position
connect the wiring to the window/lock controller
connect the negative cable to the battery
then the positive
open drivers side door
turn key to the off position((do not remove yet)) you should get a series of dings through speakers telling you the key is still in the ignition
once it begins dinging pull the key out and you should hear the door lock solenoids trigger and the windows should work.
Three years and a very unhappy girlfriend who owns the truck. but she's happy now.

their are fuses that control the windows so check those out then check the wiring with a test light if the poblem is still their you ma need to replace the driver side window motor

It sounds like your alternator may be bad. Most chain auto parts stores will check your charging system for free.

It very well could be, if you can hear the motor running then it's not connected to window regulator.
