Mice have nested in the dash/vent area and it stinks. Would like to know how to take the dash apart

I believe mice have nested or died somewhere in the vent/dash area and there is an awful odor that comes thru the vents/defroster and I'd like to get rid of it

linkage sometimes comes off its holder from usage this is normal there only held in by a upin under the dash

SOURCE: a/c vents door control not working

Can you hear anything moving in heater when you move the switch to other settings? If not then the blend door is not moving to redirect air flow. There is three things that could cause this, 1 the control switch is bad or 2 the blend door acturator is bad, and 3 linkage for the door has come unhooked or broke, most likely its #1 or #2. First you need to find the blend door acturator and test light the wires to it, there should be 3, 1 hot with key on 2 only hot with switch moved, and 3 ground. If you got power from wires than the acturator motor is bad, if no power switch is bad.

Inside the glove compartment there may be a charcoal filter. I know my Aztec had one and replacing it made it blow like new.

Mice in my heater .how do i clean it out

I know this is pretty old, but I've been able to get to my blower motor WITHOUT removing the entire dash. If you take out your glove box and shine a light up above where the air filter is, you can see a round plastic piece with a wire and a little tab on it. Just push the tab, rotate the piece and disconnect the wire. The trick is getting it around your side vent tube, but with a little wiggling not too hard. I live in the country and had to fish 2 hand fulls of insulation out of my blower motor due to mice.8 screws hold the glove box on.

Mice keep getting into my car, had the dealer take a look and they found nothing, Help found baby mice last night

Once mice get somewhere, they **** and ****. This is like a trail for other mice to follow. They will continue to get in until you kill them at the source. Poison your garage or surrounding area till they are eliminated. Get your car cleaned WELL. Snap traps, poison, glue, get a cat. Something. You will never block them out of your car. A full grown mouse can squeeze thru a hole the size of your pinky. I dont know why i know so much about mice, but i hope this helps a little.

if you have a compressor around run a bit of hose into the compartment and blast it with air it should break it up with a few tries and spare you the annoyance of pulling the dash apart

2005 - mouse nest in my dashboard behind my glovebox

bxhgb8pasmsfw-medium.jpg trying to get a step by step for ya. Hopefully the pic shows the seperate piece. I laugh because my wife use to park under a tree and the ants nested in manyof the relays and shut the vehicle down. towed it and was scratchin my head before I figure out what happened. I think the first step is getting rid of the pests. Then get in there and clean it up.
