To remove the radio you need special keys that fit into the two slots on the side of the radio face. Look for them on ebay, approximately USD $15

In my screen radio SECURE,radio not working

If you are trying to fit this CD player to a different vehicle, then you may find yourself with the Error message of "SECURE". As instead of having a conventional Radio Security Code number, this stereo is electronically paired, or "Married" to the engine management system of the vehicle it came out of using very sophisticated technology.

When it is first powered up, it will communicate with the vehicle, and a message of "WAIT" will appear on the display whilst this process is in operation. If communication has been successfull, it will simply function as normal.

However, if removed and refitted into a different vehicle other than the original one, it will not recognise the encrypted identification of the new car, and will instead display an error message of "SECURE".

This CD player cannot therefore be transferred from one car to another, unless it has first been reset back into its original "Delivery Mode" with the internal memory reprogrammed for use with the new vehicle.

I have a 2004 freestar s with a factory am/fm radio. i installed an am/fm/cd radio. it will not recognize cd's in the player. tho original radio has only 1 plug port, the new radio has 2 ports. is the...

is it a new cd/radio ? the wiring is the same for a radio with or with out a cd player , the cd should work once the radio is connected , the other port you mention may be relevent as the original radio was a factory installed , these are usually designed to be useless to be used in other vehicles as a theft deterrent , i would remove the new radio and have a good search in the radio space as there may well be the second connector you require , be very carefull as there are many sharp edges and the apeture is not very large , the second connector , if there, will most likely be taped to another loom so as to keep it away from touching other parts so a good torch and have a search , keep me posted if you wish

Original cd player won't turn on

First Check the fuses. There are two (or three) that run the radio

1 - holds the settings when truck is off (7.5A Acc) - probably not this one, cuz if it fails, lotsa stuff won't work.

2 - turns radio on when key comes on (10A Radio No1) - Check it with a meter, not your eye, the filaments are very fine.

(If you have the JBL system) (30A Radio No2 runs the amp/ subwoofer)

If these are both OK, and you're still having trouble, post back, you may need to remove the radio.......

Turn the radio off first and then disconnect the battery for 2 min then reconnect the battery. This should reset your radio and then you can eject your CD, and reset your stations and clock. Good luck

Would like to put the original CD changer/player

To put the original back in just hope the harness behind the radio wasant cut into. If its not it should just plug right in and mount back up in the stock location.

as far as the cd changer. if you would want to add one. you would need to find the changer, harness and headunit from a model with one.

My battery died now disc player says no discs please help?

Very tricky, my suggestion is to restart the radio again see if it reads the CDs this time. Try removing the radio fuse, where all the other fuses are at. Turn the radio on without the fuse, press and hold a button for a minute just to make sure you drain the electricity from the changer. Then put the fuse back and see what happens. You can also disconnect the negative or ground from the battery wait five minutes and connect it again but this will also restart the car computer.

Radio doesnt work

2 things to check why your battery die. check the alternator by turning your ignition on. set gear to neutral, accelerate upto 3000rpm and measure the battery voltage accelerating. voltage should be in range of 12 to 14v. if your not using a maintenance free battery, check the battery solution/fluid level. 2nd. check for any short circuit it might have. hook up an ammeter on one side terminal of your 12v battery with all units/accessories off, door close, monitor the dc current amount flow. normal reading is below 1A (should be in mA, 5 -100mA). . for the radio cd, does the unit goes on when power is on? if not check the fuse that supply the unit. if you cant find the fuse, try hook up the radio supply to the battery directly with fuse installed. this time the unit should on. if not, with 12v presents your unit is defective. let us know some updates as we are going to handle it one by one. hope this helps.
