Most people say no to a high mileage transmission flush if it hasnt been done before on the vehicle, I say if it starts to slip then flush it but if it is just sticking whop the old lucas trans mission oil to her! they have it at advanced it should free up those sticky valves! but if you havnt flushed it before now i would'nt
it is believed that over time your transmission fluid gets "gritty" from the clutches wearing , and over time your transmission becomes reliant on that grit to run "smoothly" I've done it and it came out fine but that was due to slipping from thin or burnt transmission fluid,
I would really try an additive to free up the valves before i'd do a flush!

Transmission Troubles codes on 2003 Jeep Liberty Renegade 3.7L V6 4x4

well; all those p07xx codes are hard transmission errors
or shifter errors.
check levels yet on the tranny, not look like tar or smell burnt?
do it by the book do not guess, how. or horrible errors happen.

tranny 42RLE or 45RFE used .then.
P0731, means 1st gear ratio wrong. (means slipping)
732 means 2nd gear slips.
734 means 4th gear slips.

the causes are many
why are you not asking any shop to diagnose it
box leaks and leaked out ATF , and is way too low.
box pump is bad, weak.

he will scan it first . and even see more errors than you saw.

no miles on car told 20 year old and 250,000 miles on it ,or more?

96 Jeep Grand Cherokee wont shift into 3rd gear, and it thunks when putting it in reverse, then makes a rattling kind of ticking sound????

check your transmission fluid. They will be hard to shift, almost like it has to be "forced" when the fluid level gets too low. Just make sure the car is running and at normal operating temperature when you check it. Do not check it when it is off, or it has just been cranked. It will not be as accurate.

Car is humming in the front end, I thought is was one of the front bearings, but those seem fine. The hum gets loader when speed increases, It doesn't matter what gear I am in it does it even in nutral...

If you already replaced the bearings then the only other option is transmission. With 200,000 miles on it anything is possible. Best bet is to have a professional look at it.

The Transmission will sometimes stick in first gear when it is cold out. The transmission also sticks in third gear all codes read good anyone no why?

How many miles are on it most transmission fluids should be flushed and changed at 60,000 miles but if you can't afford that I recommend lucus oil treatment for transmissions it is a 24 oz bottle so if your fluid is full you must first drain some off this can be done by siphoning from filler tube with turkey baster and short length of hose . This additive is very thick and must be warm when added . also may need to drive it for 50 miles or so for it to mix with your trans fluid . this should help . From my personal experience with my 96 dodge dakota 4x4 with 132,000 miles it worked for me.

96 dodge caravan wont shift out of low gear. It was fine till I pulled away from a stop light then noticed that it was not shifting up. Pulled over and turned car off then it worked fine for about 20...

i agree with kirkx about things to check .. maybe this added suggestion will not be needed but that transmission has a special "limp along" feature .. that is, if it detects something wrong then the "limp along" mode is involked .. thats intended only to allow you to get to a service shop .. it may limit what gears you can use and can even lock up the torque converter .. you can still drive but it will lurch when you put it in gear and it may not shift ... its not unusual for the transmission to go in and out of the "limp along" mode for awhile until even more damage is done which locks it in that mode or until it quits completely .. lets hope you are just low on fluid ... make absolutely sure you use the correct fluid .. this tranny has a cooling problem (due to very low internal spacing) and needs a special thin oil to keep it from overheating .. you might consider having the tranny flushed ... they force a cleaning fluid thru it to wash out scale and deposits .. about $100 .. that wont help if its already damaged but worth a try since a new tranny costs about what the 96 is worth .... i love my 96 .. wish it would last forever .. the tranny repair shop tells me to expect from 75,000 to 150,000 lifetime .. but i have seen several with 200,000 or more miles .. maybe thats just luck ..

1999 jeep grand cherokee transmission

This is called limp mode chrysler did this to protect the transmission without leaving the owner stranded by the road,a few things will cause this mainly putting the wrong fluid in the transmission, they use only atf+4,or the govenor pressure sensor is acting up which should cause a check engine light to come on,or the transmission just needs a fluid and filter change, should be done every 2yrs or 36k miles, due the fluid and filter change about 40.00 but if you have the wrong fluid then the whole system needs to be flushed and refilled-transmission-torque convertor, radiator and cooler if equipped and all lines.

Transmission problems

Go straight to your local transmission repair centre, they will be able to diagnose the fault and repair it for you. Also check your transmission oil, Engine running at normal working temp, in park (P) remove dipstick, on your left at the back towards the bulkhead. check level if low top up only half a litre at a time. if low put in half a litre of the correct fluid(available at your jeep dealer) put foot on the brake and put into reverse (R) then put into drive (D) put back into P and recheck if still low add another half litre and repeat process. When level is correct test drive, if all is ok, take to transmission shop to find the leak. repair and all will be well. Hope this helps.

96 jeep lardeo cant use reverse what can be wrong

Have you checked the transmission oil? how does it drive in other gears, if the oil level is ok and drive in other gears is fine then I suspect you have an internal transmission fault with the reverse gear.
