It was minus 40degrees and my gear shifter wouldn't come out of park. I was pushing on the brakes pretty hard why trying to get the shifter to release and all the sudden the pedal went straight to the floor and have absolutely no breaks now. I checked brake fluid and it was empty I added brake fluid and cant seem to find the leak. Where should I 1st start troubleshooting or where does it most commonly leak in a situation like this
SOURCE: Gear Lever stuck in park??
this is because there is a switch on the brake pedal that is connected to a solinoid that lock the gear selector in park .
you need to A : check the switch on the brake pedal is working this may only need to adjust the distance between the pedal stop and the pedal its self.
B: The solinoid on the gearbox should click when the switch on the brake pedal is closed or opened
if not the solinoid on the gear box could be sticking or could be faulty
hope this helps

the brakes have to be bleed you wrote that when you start the car the pedal goes to the floor that means the booster is working fine take it back and tell them you want the brakes bleed

Sounds like you might have a caliper that is stuck and is not fully disengaging. If it is in the rear then you may have a bad rear caliper. Twoo things you can try. One is to crawl under the ca and adjust the tension two nuts on the emergency brake line. If that does not resolve the problem then remove the back tire and try to spin the drum or rotor whichever you may have. If it does not spin then try adjusting the e brake cable more if it still does not respond then you need to do a brake rebuild. Also does it pull while it is dragging? If it is then you will need to rebuild the brakes no matter what.

ck if your brake lights are working, if not, ck the fuse. if fuse is good and brake lights work, could be problem with solenoid not unlocking the lever, there should be a bypass so you can get it into gear (small slot near shifer, put your key in there to release shifter)
