New ECM put in

How do I make the new ECM learn the car. I got an ECM from autozone and supposedly they programmed it to my car. I gave them the VIN and the mileage. But I get no response when I try to start the car.

If you put in a new ECM and nothing has changed.... it wasn't the ECM in the first place. Look at the ignition coils, the cam position sensor and the ignition switch

Nissan NP200. Hi, my ECM burnt and I bought a new one. Now when I switch on my ignition, no fuel pump prime. All fuses are ok. It's a Nissan NP200 K4M.

Question edited for clarity.

Two things spring to mind.

New ECMs normally need programming to the vehicle with VIN Number and mileage.

A new ECM means you have to reset the anti-theft system.

Install ecm on 1991 dodge power ram 50

Find the Ecm under the hood on the passenger side and unbolt it from the firewall or fender wall and then take out the 10 mm bolt holding the wire plug in and just reverse putting it back together.. OH.. First remove the battery cable and you might want to check that your "New" Ecm is set up for your Ram 50.. Most ecm's have to be pre-programmed for make year model and Vin number..

I have a 2005 chevy aveo. The car was running when I touched the wires on the o2 sensor with the metal cover over the exhaust manifold. I was trying to take it off. The wires sparked and the car shut off....

The following service procedures require either a programming or a setup event performed for a complete repair.
ECM Replacement
Important: It is not necessary to program a new engine control module (ECM). The ECM is programmed from the factory. Ensure the new ECM is equipped with the latest software/calibration.
If the engine control module (ECM) is replaced, the following procedures must be performed:
Idle Learn Procedure--Refer to the appropriate procedure:
• Idle Learn for the 1.4L DOHC engine
• Idle Learn for the 1.4L SOHC engine
• Idle Learn for the 1.6L engine
The crankshaft position (CKP) System Variation Learn Procedure-- Refer to the appropriate procedure:
• Crankshaft Position System Variation Learn for the 1.4L DOHC engine
• Crankshaft Position System Variation Learn for the 1.4L SOHC engine
• Crankshaft Position System Variation Learn for the 1.5L engine
• Crankshaft Position System Variation Learn for the 1.6L engine
Theft Deterrent--Refer to Programming Theft Deterrent System Components . The ECM will learn the incoming fuel continue password immediately upon receipt of a password message. Once a password message is received, and a password is learned, a learn procedure must be performed to change this password again. An ECM which has been previously installed in another vehicle will have learned the other vehicle's fuel continue password, and will require a learn procedure after programming to learn the current vehicle's password.

I just replaced the ECM in my car with a new one that I ordered from autozone. I also ordered the all-data disk from them which doesn't work ($26 down the drain). At any rate, the car won't start because...

The ECM must be programmed according to the VIN. I suppose you did this already. In addition, I understand that the ignition transponder key must also be computer matched to the ECM. If not the car eill not even turn over. Good luck

I need to replace the computer in my 99 z24 chevy cavalier how do i get part number

year, make, model and VIN are what you need (engine size) and any submodel information.

Will have to transfer the EPROM over to the new computer that you get either from the dealer or Autozone, maybe.

My computer box on fiat strada 1.2 el burned i bought a new box and put in but it still will not start

The ECM (Engine Control Module) has to be programmed based on vehicle identification number to teh vehicle it is installed in. Purchasing a computer box via a remarketer or parts store gets you a blank computer that has to be "flashed". If this was a self install job you can take the computer to the dealer and have it flashed, be sure and get the VIN off of your car. Typical cost for a computer programming on vehicle is (based on geography) 100-300 dollars. Since FIAT is a foreign model it might be in the higher end of that range. Even with the ECM flashed you may either not start or if it does it will run rough for the first drive cycle while the vehicle ECM learns the parameters of your car and adjusts accordingly.

Chrysler 3.3 vin r v6 mini van, starts then dies

Charlie. You have replaced the ECM on your van?.
Kedwin,, Your problem is, the computer on that 3.3 L.
Need to be programed with the VIN nember of your car.
The Antitheft System will disable the injectors due a incorrect VIN, Bucause the body computer is not recieve the correct pasword between 5 seconds after start up.
YOU have 2 options. 1 get a ALOHA Smith. some of they have the computer required to program ECMs.

The other option is: Get a new ECM from the dealer, They will program if ask for that.

NOTE:::::: Other way is . Put the body control module with the computer from the same car.

OK... I hope this work for yours.
If NOT letme know I can look for more information.
Thank you.
