I have replaced the evap and schrader valve and cap. Chevy dealer told me that my compressor needs to be replaced and they want 900 to replace it. When we charge it the air is cold for 24 hours or so and then it blows hot again.

This might sound like a dumb question but did you check fuses. I had that problem with my 2000 F-150 5.4L. The A/C wasn't blowing cold. I charged it and it started blowing cold but only for a day. I assumed it had a leak then I found later that a fuse had been moved. I guess it was checked, then put back in the wrong spot. That fixed my problem. You could check that. Other than that is sound like a leak.
