Sounds like the rear differential may have come apart. I would drop the rear diff. cover and inspect for broken gears.

SOURCE: 2001 Chevy Silverado anti-lock brakes activate on

One of the sensors has gone bad and needs to be replaced, the other thing to that would also do that is the ABS sensor is dirty or needs to be re gaped to the speed ring on the hub. There was a issue bulletin with your Tahoe on the ABS activating under 8 km/h. Good luck and hope this helps, if not clean out the sensor with brake parts cleaner and check the wire harness and ABS sensor bracket. Re gap the sensor to the speed ring hub. Here is the bulletin. SOURCE: rear axle shaft removal on 2002 chevy s-10

It is more than likely limited slip... It should be same as others pull the spider pin out by removing retainer rotate diff. and slide pin down but do not completely remove. Push axle in and remove C clip.

If you have disc brakes the caliper is sticking. If drum brakes, your pads are bad or you have a wheel cylinder locking up or a bad spring.

Does my truck have abs brakes? It is 4x4 1992 chevy 1500

Your truck is equipped with RWAL or rear wheel anti-lock. This just worked on the rear brakes(duh) but the speed sensor was taken from the speedometer drive at the transmission tailshaft, and would allow one rear wheel to lock as long as the speedo kept turning. Later models were improved with wheel speed sensors at each wheel.

Drove my suburban in the driveway, tried to back out and it sounded like i hit something in the back under vehicle, there was nothing there. now vehicle will not move at all. i am getting alot of different...

1)check that the park brakes are not seized on.
2)check the driveshaft where it connects on the differential.
broken driveshafts and universal joints are common on those.

Rear tire locking up on 1992 chevy k1500 4x4 seems like after u joints were installed on drive shaft rear tire locks up periodically truck will not move

thats serious... need to find out if its a brake problem or rear end , or trans problem. I would not think universal replacement would have anything to do with it, but thats strange.

I have a 1988 chevy pickup. The 4 wheel drive does not work. the transfer case is kicking in but the hubs are not. The front shaft is spinning in 4 wheel drive bu the hubs are not engaging

OK If you have manual locking hubs, one could be acting up. Jack the rear wheels off the ground and block the front wheels. Be sure you have the trucks back axel supported, not just on jacks! Then, with a person in the drivers seat, put it in gear. The 'driver' will turn the steering from lock to lock, while you check [from outside the truck, not under]] for the shaft at the front wheels that is spinning. This is the prob ! Frankster016
