Bmw 740il 2000 not starting with key only direct start

you should take it to the place where you got the new ignition key programmed - and ask them what to do next, and why they charged you for a non-functional key.

You need to remove the transponder from your old key and put it in your new key or toe it to bmw to have the key coded to your car for it to start

Check the fuse box directly behind battery. Also check that the starter positive is not touching the body

Battery may be too weak. The battery can power the headlights and interior lights, but if the voltage is too low, the starter will not engage at all. Charge the battery and try again. BMWs have battery drains that kill the battery in 3-4 weeks. If you store one that long, it is recommended to use a trickle charger to maintain the battery.

Its you batery in good power to start it? This is maybe problem.

check battery cables.make sure they are not loose are or corroded.if battery cables okay.problem could be faulty starter - electronic immobilizer control - ignition switch + check its fuse first.if you disconnect battery cables besure to turn off radio so you wont lose code.

If you checked all the fuses try putting the car in neutral sometimes the shifter gets misadjusted and wont start till the car is completely in park.If not check for a lose wire to the starter.If the car has an after market alarm you will have to turn it off before starting there should be a little buuton under the drivers dash or kick panel.GOOD LUCK

IS THIS AN AUTOMATIC OR MANUL GEARBOX? COULD BE STARTER RELAY STICKING OR IS THE RINGGEAR ON THE FLYWHEEL DAMAGED HOLDING THE STARTER IN MESH?

sounds like a battery fault, not holding a charge well
