If the top of your 2013 Mini Cooper Roadster is not retracting, there could be a few possible reasons why. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can take:
Check the hydraulic fluid level: The retractable roof on a Mini Cooper Roadster is powered by a hydraulic system that requires hydraulic fluid to function properly. Check the hydraulic fluid level in the reservoir located in the trunk of the vehicle. If the fluid level is low, refill it to the recommended level and try to retract the roof again.
Check the fuse: The roof system may have a dedicated fuse that could have blown, preventing the roof from retracting. Check the owner's manual or the fuse box to locate the fuse for the roof system and replace it if necessary.
Check for obstructions: If there are any obstructions or debris on the roof, it may prevent it from retracting properly. Inspect the roof and the tracks for any debris and remove it carefully.
Reset the roof system: If the roof system has become out of sync or is stuck, resetting the system may help. Refer to the owner's manual for instructions on how to reset the roof system.
Seek professional help: If the above steps do not resolve the issue, it may be a mechanical or electrical problem that requires professional help. Contact a certified mechanic or dealership for diagnosis and repair of the roof system.
By following these troubleshooting steps, you may be able to identify and resolve the issue with your Mini Cooper Roadster's retractable roof.
You need to pump the hydraulics manually, to do this first sit on boot and press boot button for a few seconds without allowing the boot to open. Partially allow boot to open, manually push boot all the way open and closed a dozen or so times to manually pump hydraulics. I had same prob, this sounds extreme but does work and wont cost you a penny.
If it open's. but not all the way, then the fuse is good, no other fuse to open all the way, same fuse, the problem is with the retracting assembly, will have to take it in for service.
This reset works on most cars, providing no other problems
Press and hold tilt, watch roof untill it tilts up a further half inch
This can take 30 seconds
Close tilt and check opperation.
I recommend gasket sealant that you would use for a motor. It's flexible and relatively cheap so if it doesn't work you not out much. Other than that a good contact cement would probably work well.
2007 Pontiac G6 retractable top engine swithed off while raising, top continued to close in compartment right side upper forward pad looking thing popped and the compartment would not close, however the top will raise and go back in place, cannot leave top in compartment since the trunk lid will not close over the stored top..........
It almost certainly will be the switches unless you have a broken wire in the loom. There is a cheap piece of kit available on the internet called an op-com that will read these cars including the roof, that will give you fault codes and live data to see exactly where the problem lies.
Open roof latch over windshild.
Raise rear of roof off of hatch
Lift little hatch tabs to access lift mechanism
Release latches on each side with fingers
Lift Hatch with free hand
Let roof fall into storage compartment
Click hatch shut.
Reverse proceedure to put back up.
