SOURCE: Engine running hot displays on dash....cold air blowing thru vent
there,s a chance that your hot-cold air trap is not working
SOURCE: coolant leak/ squeak/ no heat
The squeak you hear is because coolant is leaking onto the belt making it slip and that is the squeak you hear. The reason your heater isn't working is because the coolant is low enough that it isn't able to circulate through the heater core and heat your car. If you are losing a gallon of coolant a week, I would guess you either have a coolant hose with a leak or your water pump is going bad and starting to leak. It could be getting weak which also would cause you to not have heat. I would get it fixed soon before the pump shells out on you and your engine overheats which could cause more damage to the engine.
Good luck
SOURCE: Hoses to cooling system keeps bursting
I agree with the questions asked by c17hydro, but also keep in mind that if the new coolant hoses are springing new leaks in the body of the hoses (not at the connecting points), this would be due to excessive PSI build-up in the hoses and you may have a much larger problem. After the car has sat and cooled overnight, start the car with the hood up. IF after 3-5 minutes of idling, the coolant hoses build up pressure immediately (hoses are very firm), this may be due to exhaust fumes entering the cooling system, which is an indication you have blown a head gasket or cracked the cylinder head. Your car will still run, but it's performance will be very poor and sluggish.
SOURCE: Same problem , car has only 86,000 miles
replace that thermostat again...flush radiator any way...then see how it runs...

Definately yout heater core.isk of damage would only be loss of coolsnt snd an uncomfortable passenger. It could fail further because it is under the same pressure as the readiator. It's your call. Remember the damage it will do to the carpet. heater cores can be repaired like a radiator. Good Luck, Ned
