Oil capacity - 1991 Honda Prelude

SkyActiv engines, regardless of displacement, never fill completely (according to the dipstick) using the recommended fill volume. Your experience using 5 full quarts in a 2.5 liter is exactly what others have experienced.

Oil capacity will be listed in the specifications in the vehicle handbook along with the recommended grades.

There is often two capacities listed; one being the capacity of the oil pan and the other being the capacity of the oil filter.

When refilling the engine it is good practice to slightly underfill so after running and standing the level is between the maximum and minimum marks on the dipstick.

Your gas tank should hold about 13.1 gal.s I believe and your oil for a oil change including filter is 4 quarts only....don't overfill! I own one so I know.

Fuel tank, 17.2 gallons. Radiator capacity, 1.25 gallons. Oil capacity 4.5 quarts with the filter. Oil pressure, 20-50 psi.

Engine oil capacity is 6.0 liters, (inclusive oil filter).
If the car is 4matic, (4 x 4), then oil capacity is 6.5 liters, (inclusive oil filter).

If you have the 4.7 liter  V8 with the engine code (N) 5W-30 If you have the 2.5 liter, 3.9 liter, 5.9 liter 10W30 but 5W-30 can be used under cold climate condition. (Alaska)
