Just replaced the fuel pump in a 1996 chevy silverado. put the new pump started the truck ran it for about a hour. when out the next day to start the truck it started and as soon as i put it in gear the truck stalled and won't start fuel pump dead again what can be causing this.

I change the fuel pressure regulator and fuel pump relay, now runs better.

Chevy Trucks, Blazers, S10 pickup and the like will vapor lock ecspecially the 2000 models. Do not tighten the gas cap past 1 click. There is a tube that runs from the top of the tank down and this gets hot and collapses or burns in half. We just bought a reinforced rubber tube cut it to lengh and use it instead of part and it's worked grat for 2 years so far.

Sounds like dirty gas and the fuel filter is clogged...try changing the fuel filter...some are under the car, but most are mounted against the firewall in the engine compartment.

Fuel pump relay sound bad. Under the hood in the fuse box is the location of the relay. Look under the cover for the diagram to locate it faster. Hope this helps. Please keep me posted. Good luck
