Rangerover td6 air suspension.

Hi, my 2002 rangerover td6 does not like to be jacked off the ground. Every time the wheels are lifted of the ground it will return to the bump stops and I have to take it to the dealer to have it reset, once the fault/error has been cleared it will return to normal position. One dealer says it needs a compressor, the other said i was just unlucky and that the key should be removed whenever jacking the vehicle. I have tried this but to no avail, a trip to get it reset again. The compressor will work on all modes and is quiet when operating. I think it might be the hieght sensors, what do you think?

You could be right or the ride height valves not resetting when back on the ground
if resetting brings it back to ride height , it will not be a compressor problem but a control problem

You don't say where you are but there are various LR owners forum and enthusiasts sites where you can get this info. Certainly UK based.

SOURCE: Air Suspension

I feel your pain as I am a loyal Land Rover customer and have had a bad one in the past. Your car has many demons. Air suspension compressors do fail but there are many other parts in the system. The tire sensors are not essential.

Your compressor is not working. Its placed under the step, you can drop it quite easy.check the power going to the compressor.Check the fuses and relays.but its quite common for the copressors to fail.Good luck

SOURCE: rear suspension has jack up and won't lower on

Possibly the height sensors or valve block at fault. Or a compressor failure. May need to be put on the diagnostics machine to check.

Hi!!
Hill Descent Control Information
The lamp illuminates when the driver selects Hill Descent Control (HDC), to inform the driver that the system is enabled. If the lamp flashes, the system cannot enable HDC due to excessive speed or incorrect gear selection.
HDC Activity Status: The signal informs the instrument pack if the HDC function is enabled or disabled. If the HDC function is disabled, the HDC lamp will flash to indicate that the incorrect gear is selected or the vehicle is travelling at excessive speed for HDC operation. The signal is originated from the ABS ECU.

Hill Descent Control Fault The lamp illuminates if a fault is detected within the HDC system, providing the driver with a visible warning.
HDC Fault Status: The signal is a combination of the HDC activity and fault messages and is only illuminated when the ABS system detects a HDC function fault. The signal is originated from the ABS ECU.
Check your brake fluid and brake pads. This will also trigger the HDC light. If Brakes and fluid are OK, have the PCM codes scanned, this way you'll know exactly where the problem is. You can have the codes scanned for FREE at AutoZone, Checkers or similar auto parts, they will give you a print out with the fault codes numbers and their description.
Good Luck!! A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa.

How to use jack to remove tire

A jack lifts the vehicle wheel off the road.
A brace removes the wheel nuts, not the jack.

How do I remove the body lift kit on a mercury mountaineer

First, make sure what type lift kit you have,,--- ONLY USE JACK STANDS TO SUSPEND A VEHICLE -- NEVER USE A JACK(S) -- TOO DANGEROUS!!! Removing each of them is a different direction...- Removing a suspension lift kit - jack up the body until the tires are off the ground..
Removing a body lift is a little more time consuming and difficult..
CONTACT your local off road shop,,, you need to "disconnect" the body from the frame, then remove the lift kit..visually double check all the bolts for wear.. replace ANY that have ANY damage...the local shop should have tips that will help...

Couple questions.
why was the tire in need of being replaced?
was there any damage or impact to the car?
when was the last time it was jacked up or lifted?

the first things that come to mind is a bent or hyper extended shock.
second thing that comes to mind is maybe somebody jacked it up one a suspension part and bent it

Rear air suspension on 90 lincoln town car won't raise when air compressor pump is running you can hear a hissing noise at the rear drivers wheel when you jack the rear of the car the air bags inflate not...

Some of the Vehicles with Air Suspension require the Pump to be shut off , before you lift the Wheels, off the Ground. The hissing noise indicates the bags ruptured and need replaced, at the very least. If there is an air suspension Cut-off, it is usually right front Kick Panel Location. If not you made need to pull a Fuse. Without a Manual, you are kind of hosed. Buy a Manual , for around $30, at the Local Parts Store.

Warning suspension workshop message appears in center display ride heigth cannot be reached. . passenger front suspension does'nt lift.

Hi!

Your vehicle is equiped with a small compressor that pumps air into either a bag or shock absorber, each one has a leveling mechanism that sends the signal to pump more air to that particular side. This keeps your vehicle leveled at all times, like when you have passangers in the back sit, passenger sit, or luggage.

The message you are getting means that either the air is not getting to the front passenger suspension to level it up, which could be due to an air leak, or the bag or the part of the suspension that lifts that part of the vehicle is defective.

You can get a diagnostic at any reputable suspension shop at no charge to find out the exact cause.

Good Luck!! Don't forget to rate this post!!

2002 rangerover vogue petrol nearside front suspension goes down overnight any ideas to put right please

I expect this has an air system within the suspension allowing you to vary the ride and its height. If the suspension is dropping overnight this would be from a leak within the system or a valve that is allowing air to bleed back and leak out. You'll have to locate the leak which may be in one of the shocks/air bags. Being these are tied together by a common system if one were to leak the pressure in the system will equalize causing the entire system to lower its pressure. I hope this may have assisted,

How does the cruise control work on a 2001 Landrover rangerover? My son purchased a used rangerover w/no manual. Not sure what buttons turn it on and make it work.

It's the button to the right of the air suspension lift button located in the middle console up high. I leave mine on all the time. Press it once it lights up and your good to go the use the buttons on the bottom of the steering wheel. Good Luck!
