It is bad you need to go to your nearest junkyard and get a used one. had many go bad on stratus, sebrings, intrepids, neon they all take the same one in 2000 all the way to 2005 or 2006

When i try cd it keeps writing error.and reject every cd plates i insert.it was playing normal 2days ago.pls what do i do when error notice appear.the car is honda 2003 model coupe.thanx

Unfortunately 90% of the time when you get error codes from the CD player/changer it means that there is a mechanical failure in the CD player/changer unit itself and it usually requires CD player/changer rebuild or replacement...
First make sure you have entered the correct anti-theft code. If battery power has been disconnected recently than the stereo display will read CODE if the incorrect anti-theft code is entered the display will read ERR1 thru ERR3. If this is the case you'll have to get the correct anti-theft code. Note; If you enter the incorrect code three times the stereo locks up. Disconnect the battery for more than 30 seconds and then retry.
FYI;Never use adhesive labels or protective disc covers on recordable CD's. Recordable CD's are actually thicker than pre-recorded CD's. Automotive players and changers use rollers to draw the disc into the unit. The added thickness of an adhesive label or protective disc cover may cause the disc to jam. Also CD players and changers are exposed to high temperatures inside the vehicle. High temp will cause the labels adhesive to soften which may cause the labels edges to curl or cause it to bubble. Either one may cause the disc to jam. If the player can not be disassembled and have the discs removed successfully than it will have to be replaced. -hope this helps.

We can't get the factory 6 disc cd player to load more than 1 disc. What is the sequence for loading additional discs?

The following is the owner's manual for your 2004 Dodge Neon:

http://www.dodge.com/en/owners/manuals/index.html?year=2004&nameplate=Neon

P.99 describes how to load discs:

1. Select and press any numbered button without an illuminated light above it.
2. Insert the CD while the light above the chosen button is flashing and the two lights on either side of the slot are illuminated.
3. Upon insertion, the CD will begin to play, and both the button light and the lights in the corner of the loading slot will illuminate.
4. Repeat the process for loading any additional CDs. The CD playe rwill stop while additional CDs are loaded.

Playing Discs
The radio will show the CD number, the CD track number, and the Track Time Elapsed while the radio is in the CD mode. IF more than one CD is loaded in the changer, the changer will automatically play the next disc after playing the last track of the current disc.

Wow, that's a lot of typing.
I didn't know the 2004 Dodge Neon had such a nice changer.
Good luck.

2000 jeep grand cherokee limited 10 disk cd changer says ''err''

The in-trunk units have a tendancy to go bad. you can take the cover plastic interior cover off to access the CD changer, un bolt the changer, and visualy inspect the two rollers for debris, or missing /broken gears that move the rollers to take the CD from the CD cartrage to the player. if that looks fine, chances are that the laser went bad (common in rear mount units) and you can order a new one from Jeep, or you can remove it and update the in-dash head to an aftermarket of your choice (& yes you steering wheel controls will still work). you could also fit a more modern MP3 unit where the Changer was.

CD ERR 1

Have a 2005 Freelander and the battery died. When I re-charged the battery, the CD changer had a CD ERR 1 message. Could not eject or load a CD and the radio worked. I turned off the radio and pulled off the cover on top of the CD changer. I removed the two screws that hold the frame around the CD changer. I turned the CD back on and the CD went through a test on each CD. I know this solution might not work for everyone, but it worked for me

A8 2004 Navigation system not active

NAV unit uses a DVD disc. If its a copy, it may or may not work. I suggest you remove the NAV disc, unplug the NAV unit from power for 4-5 minutes, reconnect the NAV and try inserting the disc again to see if it reads. If it still does not read, another NAV disc needs to be inserted to verify its not a "bad" NAV DVD disc issue. If it still cannot read the second disc, the NAV unit is bad. The handbook feature needs the disc inserted in the slot 1 of the CD changer unit.

1994 lexus ls 400, cd player

Hello I just purchased a 1991 Lexus LS400

I have one of those 6 cd changers and got "err" when I started up the CD.

Here is what I tried and the result

1. I took out the CD,s replaced with new ones and it played but only for a bit, then even the new CD's got the err message

2. I then though maybe dust and/ or dirt so I took out the 6 pack of CD's and blasted compressed air into the unit from a can of computer cleaner compressed air. Lost the err message but then came back

3. Read a few other ideas on the problem and then tried the old hair dryer trick. (I am a long term live a board boater and have brought back may mis-behaving electronic devices that have moisture issues with the hair drier) However the hair drier did not do away with the err message.

4. two more boating tricks I thought of... I wiped down each leaf of the CD pack with rubbing alcohol
and actually got a good deal of dirt off the plastic, finally and probably the solution I sprayed some "wire dryer" a light spray then a mist.( Wire dryer made by Gunk is a spray can of a liguid we used all the time to get cars started in the cold weather, even got a better connection by spraying on battery wires to get the sailboat diesel started with an almost dead battery.)

I Waited a few minutes put back the cd holder and it worked.

It has been about 6 hours and it is still running like a champ.

could have been the combination or just the wire dryer...not very scientific maybe it will help
