I have a 2003 dodge durango, my factory stereo works but will not put out any sound.. We replaced the stereo and still no sound we also can not find the internal factory amp....
have you checked your owners manual for an audio fuse?
You likely have a factory amplifier.
My schematics say its a 15A fuse under the hood.

Usually the amplifier on a durango is found under the dash or inside the kickpanel on the passenger side.

A cheap way is to buy a stereo adapter for your vehicle. It shows the wiring diagram. This adapter is when you are replacing the radio with an aftermarket one
take the plastic thing off that goes all the way around the guages or w.e. then ther should b 2 bolts on the front of the stereo take them out. take out the radio n unconnect wires. then get a wire kit n plug it in and hook it up. if the speakers dont work either get new ones or rewire them using all different wires.
You can buy adaptor plugs that allow a simple hook up at most car stereo places. However, when you increase the power going to the speakers you also have to replace the speakers to handle the higher power or you'll toast them.
