Firstly please use the queens english as lug means to a slang word to carry ,or a worm in the sand used as fishing bait ,so yes you have removed the the four wheel nuts ,leave the middle one alone as that holds the drive shaft on ,whats happening is no doubt you have a alloy wheel rim and its corroded to the hub, now make sure wheel is off the ground and then place a axle stand under the chassis to support the weight -now the fun part place aplank of wood against the inside of the wheel lay underneath and hit the plank with a 7kg(14lb) hammer ,you stated this is your sons car and he cannot change his own wheel ,a daughter maybe --but a mother changing a sons wheel on a car ,now i have heard it all?? once the wheel is removed make sure you put some grease where the alloy contacts the steel of the hub to ensure it doesnt corrode up again then send the prodical son to a car repair course at the local college .Mother changing a sons wheel ---iam speechless as i just dont beleave what i have read to be true? What will happen if and when he ever gets married --Does he know enough to make you a grandmother ? sorry to be facietious but?mum changing a sons car wheel
SOURCE: i need to know the
I do Believe that they are 225/65/15's Do you have the Original Tires now???? If so They have the Size right on the Tire. The Letters and Writing are in Black But, If you take a Piece of Chalk and Highlight the Writing you can read it better. The writting is right on the Side of the Tire.
SOURCE: tire sizes
Open the front drivers door... or the passenger side front door... there should be a sticker there indicating correct tire sizes as well as pressures.

SOURCE: where is the fuel filter
You will need a straight-head screw driver and possibly a 1/4 inch nut driver.
The hoses are held by white plastic retaining clips that you pop off with the screw driver. My new filter came with new retaining clips in case the old ones break during removal. The filter itself is held in place with an adjustable strap like one you would use for any hose. You can use a screwdriver, but I prefer to use the nutdriver to avoid mangling the screw.
You can change this filter without having to actually put your body underneath the vehicle. Jack it up at the rear jackpoint just fore of the rear right wheel. The filter is slighty forward from there. You can lay on the ground next to the vehicle and just reach under to change the filter. It is about the size of a regular coffee mug. It is cylindrical in shape with one end rounded with hose nipple and the other end flat with hose nipple.
Before removing the fuel filter I tried pulling the fuel pump fuse (15A fuse #9 in the power distribution fuse box in the engine compartment next to the battery) to bleed the pressure off the line. The engine however never died, but acted as if it would, so I shut it off. I did not know where to actually disconnect the pump. Pulling the fuse seemed to help anyway. The hoses were not under pressure, though still about a half-cup or so of fuel still leaked out, plus the fuel in the filter itself. That's normal.
1. Start engine, pull fuse, wait for engine to choke, turn off.
2. Jack up car, use Jack-stand for safety.
3. Pop clips, pull off hoses.
4. Loosen strap, remove old filter.
5. Reverse for installation.
SOURCE: why is the abs fuse keep blowing in 1999 mercury cougar?
You will need to optain a wire schematics for the abs system and related parts. The fuse is blowing because there is an obvious short circuit in the system. The wire schematics will help you trace the shorted power wire thats giving you problems. Repair wire as nesessary. (Replace damaged section of wire) Replace fuse.
SOURCE: I have a 2002 mercury cougar (v6) it has a miss
Engine miss can be caused by lots of things. f this has coil on plug ignition system it cold have a bad coil. This can be checked with a cheap "spark checker" that looks like spark plu with the center electrode removed and a aligator clamp welded to the side of the nut. It takes 30-35k volts to fire this thing so if your coil will fire this then it will fire the plug. Then check the sides of the spark plug boots for white spots where it has been arching out to ground. I good then it could be a dirty injector with a bad spray pattern, vacuum leak on that cylinder, but one the first things to check is to make sure you have good copression. no compression or intermittent compression from poor seating/sticking valves, weak springs, the list goes on, no or low conpression= misfire . need to figure which cylinder is causing first.
