SOURCE: I have a 2001 Pontiac Montana. The driver side brake light melts
Make sure your useing the correct bulb and its pluged in the right way, if your sure of that, than check your ground a poor ground could do that, when there is a bad ground, it will travel thru the positive to find a ground maybe overloading it. There is a chanse it could be a bad break light switch. You can chk. that by applying the breaks for a little wile and let off and feel the switch and see if its excessively warm or hot.
SOURCE: we need to find the tension pulley for the
it's located on the passenger side slightly below the water pump. follow the belt routeing and you will see it and the spring tensioner arm the pulley mounts on, They pulley itself is secured with a 15mm head bolt and can be replaced without buying the entitre arm. The square hole in the arm is where you insert a breakover bar to release the belt tension.
This is what you are looking for,,, I hope this helps....and please use caution when replaceing belts, lots of "pinch points" that can hurt your hands.
SOURCE: pontiac montana oil pan bolt diagram for removal
If all the bolts are off, then the gasket is holding the oil pan in place and your going to have to tap it with a mallet, Not a hammer but a mallet so you don not damage the oil pan. Good luck and hope this helps.
SOURCE: 2001 Pontiac Montana - what is a misfire #5?
Without your actual trouble code, I am assuming that you are have a misfire on cylinder # 5. The computer cannot really tell what is causing the misfire only that cyl 5 is not putting out full power. If it misfires when cold then smooths out as it warms up, I would say it is probably an injector that is sticky, as it warms up it starts working properly.
Testimonial: "Thank you for your suggestion. I will have that checked out. I will also ask my mechanic what the actual trouble code says."
