Sun roof wont open all the way up/downbutton doesnt work at all

2003 hyundai tiberon sunroof only opens halfway up down button not working at all

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

does it make a crunching noise or not? If not, get the sunroof closed manuallly with the tool that should be in the glove box, looks like a weird allen head. once it is in the closed position, turn the ignition key off, hold down the up and the open(slide back) button at the same and turn the ignition key on. keep holding until the sunroof opens a little and stops on its own, the try to use it. that procedure will time the motor.

POSSIBLE SOLUTION!! There's a seperate Tilt button and a seperate Open/Close button. Hold the Tilt buton up and the Open/Close button up at the same time WHILE THE CAR IS ON. And then turn your car off while still holding the buttons. Then turn your car back on and it should work like brand new again. This re-programs the sunroof.

If this workds for you please email at [email protected] to let me know thanks and GOOD LUCK!!!!

What shape is the sunshade in? is it interferring with the movement of the sunroof? Also, there is a control module which activates the UP/DOWN feature as well as the BACK/FORWARD function. The problem may be as simple as bad contacts in the control switches. Go to http://www.hmaservice.com/ and register. There you will find lots of technical info about your vehicle.

I have a 2003 monte carlo ss sun roof wont close and making popping noise

Sounds like the gears are bad in one spot. You can try to guide it closed with someone helping you as you pull or push it into place. Otherwise: http://www.theautopartsshop.com/auto+car-usa+parts/chevrolet+monte-carlo+sunroof-motor.html

Have 04 getz and sun roof wont work.stuck closed.has two control buttons,up and down and open close.thought cables jammed.popped motor off sunroof.motor only running one way.wont reverse.HELP PLEASE.

my apologies for delay in getting back to you.only just sorted this.turned out was the little control unit for sun roof causing problem.it is cable tied to the sun roof frame beside the sun roof motor and can only get at it by dropping the head cloth on one side.learned from a hyundi dealer the switches give a lot of bother, now and again the control units do too.many thanks.

Can not close the sun roof on the 2003 land rover freelander. It will not go down in the back.

the procedure for resetting the travel limits for the sunroofs of the lr3's is with the engine running, hold the sunroof switch to the open position until the sunroof automatically opens and closes and stops moving. this takes about a minute. i'm not positive that the procedure is the same on the freelanders, but it's worth a shot. if it doesnt work in the open position try it again in the closed position. good luck!

ASC Sunroof needs to be programmed

hold the vent button until the roof has "tilted" completely, then hold the open button until the roof has opened completely. the light that reads ASC should now be green and your sunroof should operate normally.

2003 Hyundia Elantra sun roof tilt open inop on right side

Ok Ken... there are two cables which run parallel between the sunroof motor gear. Seems to me one of those cables (the one that runs to the 'right') is damaged/stripped and is not raising the roof on that side. Remove the overhead map light assy & then remove the sunroof motor & inspect the cables.. bet you'll find the problem there.

Volvo 2003 s60 sun roof do not open, fuse ok.

check your fuse in position 38 in the fuse box....this fuse is for the car's alarm system but also seems to work the sunroof, I have a problem with this fuse when its not blown the sunroof opens with no problems but when it blows the roof will not open I am not sure how they are tied in together but they are....so I would say that you have an electrical issue....do not replace the motor until you check this first

BMW X 3 Panoramic sun roof initialization.

title says X5, but description says X3. i'll explain for an X5, but X3 with the pano should be the same. and i'll explain function of the roof, not reprogramming.

button is located on the panel at the top near the front & center windshield. its the switch on the far left on this panel. its a switch that not only toggles, but also slides forward & back.

with your finger in front of the button, slide it back & release. this will make the cover slide back and store revealing the sun roof. you know have 2 options (tilt the sunroof up or open the roof completely).

to tilt it up, press up on the rear of the button and release. the rear of both roofs will pop up. to close, push up and release the front of the button or slide the switch forward.

to slide it open completely, repeat what you did to open the protective cover (slide the switch from front to back). the roof will open completely and stow out of the way. to close, slide the switch forward and release. pano roof will now close.

to close the cover, slide the switch forward again.

neat trick: if you want to tilt the sunroof open without opening the protective cover, press up on the rear of the button (when the cover is closed) and release. the cover will separate in the middle exposing about a 2-3 inch mesh, then tilts the sunroof open. to close, push the button forward again.

also, if you are above a certain speed (can't remember what it is off hand) with the sunroof open or tilted, it will close automatically, then perform the neat trick on its own to keep air coming in.

one last trick: if you want to open the windows and sunroof from outside, press & hold the unlock button (forward button on the key) and you will see the windows go down, then the roof will open to vent. releasing the button will stop the motion of the windows & roof.

hope this answered what you were asking.

Tiburon sunroof problem

Hi guys you have to re-program the computer function that controls the sun roof. Turn the ignition to off. Hold down both buttons that open the sunroof simultaneously and switch the ignition to on. Continue holding the buttons to open for about 10 seconds, or until you here a click, or until the sunroof opens. This should fix the problem, and remember the solution because it will happen again.
