these are the steps i found for a 2001 to 2005 you may have to research a bit to make sure they are the same for a 2006 most auto stores will be able to tell you this but make sure u get a second opinion just to be safe
It depends on WHICH fuel sensor are you looking for. The fuel level sensor is part of the fuel pump module assembly, which is located INSIDE the fuel tank. The fuel temperature sensor is mounted in the TOP of the fuel tank. Note: The fuel teperature sensor only applies to early production 2.4L engines. Other 2006 Kia Optima's are not equipped with one.
Hi LIsa: On 2001-2005 vehicles the crankshaft sensor is mounted on the front of
the transmission case adjacent to the flywheel.
On 2006 vehicles the
crankshaft position sensor is located next to the radiator hose inlet
and outlet assembly.
I really hope this helps, and just keep in mind that your feedback is important

the crank sensor should be located on the left rear of the engine nearest the bell housing. the exciter ring is bolted on the end of the crankshaft inside the crankcase. holp this helps. cheers
