1997 Chevy Cavalier i cant find the trunk release button

fuses do not make a grinding sound. You will need to open trunk and inspect/replace trunk release

A trunk release button is not included in most Cavalliers. The cavalier came standard with electronic trunk release from the keyless entry keyring. Otherwise you need to use the key.

If it was added, these were options only on the Cavaliers, it would either be in the glove box as a yellow button in the upper left hand corner or on the floor near the front of the base of the driver's seat. Some models only came with a trunk release on the key fob as well.

Might try some graphite lock lube in the keyhole.

The trunk release button should be located in the glove box. mine is a yellow button and yours should be too.

check the latch on the truck lid looks like an upside down u and not like there is a bar in the way. if it looks like a bar in the way then pry it down and left to make the u shape and shut the trunk

The release needs to be reset manually. Consult your owner's manual for instructions.
