The light on the 4whl console will not come on when I change the locator handle to engage 4whl drive. Someone told me it is just a fuse bad. I can't find the fuse.-Norm
the fuse is bad, if that where the case the circuit is shorted out and replacing the fuse would do nothing to fix the poblem.the fuse is bad, if that where the case the circuit is shorted out and replacing the fuse would do nothing to fix the poblem.

Re: My 1994 GMC Yukon will not engage 4-wheel drive
Normally when I see this it almost always turns out to be the actuator on the front differential has failed. It is possible that a fuse has blown but you may want to confirm that the solenoid is not bad.

{: ) If your vehicle has an AWD (All-Wheel Drive) feature, engine power is sent to all 4 wheels all the time. This is like four-wheel drive, but there is no separate lever or switch to engage or disengage the front axle. It is fully automatic, and adjusts ityself as needed for road conditions.
Mine wouldnt engage either even though I could hear the relay click when put in 4 wheel drive. It ended up being an air hose located on a vac pump located under the battery. You have to remove the battery and then the plate it sits on to get to it. I replaced the hose all the way from the pump to a valve mounted atop the tranny. 6ft of hose was all it took and my 4 wheel drive kicked right in. The pump actuates a fork gear on the front axle.
Hi, depending on the vehicle, there can be different controls. Standard control, 4hi, use in slippery conditions, never on dry pavement. Just push the button, and it will engage. 4low is for extreme conditons and the transmission must be in neuteral to engage 4lo. If you have auto 4wd button, just press the button in slippery conditions. If you have a denali, it is all wheel drive, and there are no buttons to push. So, depending on the model, there are multiple ways, but pushing the button engages it. Good luck...Goop
If the transfer case is engaging, try it in 4X4 low foot on the brake and other on the gas (power braking) and you can get the rear tires to break loose your 4 wheel drive actuator switch is bad, a common problem on these 4X4's. It is a simple repair and is located on the front differential.
Check for a blown fuse. use your manual to find fuse location. you can remove the shift motor and engage it manually, you need to remove front driveshaft.
