You are Talking about the Main Cover on the Rear of the Rear end Correct???? If so, This is Just a Gasket and is Very easy to replace. The Gasket is Simply Worn out.

SOURCE: Rear Main Oil Seal leak 2008 GMC Canyon

I think this is for an oil level sensor. Should be easy to change , or a shop can do it for a nominal charge. The dealerships will want more.

That means that you need to replace the seal, might as well do the bearing and the cv joint too.

Many people have replaced the seal this way. It is an error. The passenger side axle is actually a 2-piece axle. The end of the outer axle shaft has a point to it. This pointed end slides into the other axle stub (inside where you cannot see). There is a thrust washer that is in between the two axle parts. This thrust washer falls down. When you put the outer axle back in, the washer is now out of place. So, when the front axle actuator tries to connect those two halves of axle together, the washer is in the way of the slip collar. Preventing the two halves of the axle from getting connected. See pictures online or a repair manual breakout of the front axle. What needs to be done, is to remove the passenger side tube and axle. replace the seal, then place the washer onto the outer axle and put the housing onto the inner housing with the outer axle already in place.

2008 Mercury Mariner rear axle is leaking. Is there a possibility I can just tighten it down or will it require me to replace it?

You have to loosen the rear suspension on that side

Remove the axle nut & pull the knuckle clear of the axle

Then remove the axle on the side that leaks

Change the seal & replace axle, etc.

Front diff leaking driverside right at cv joint makes a humming noise.diff bearing or seal or possible wheel bearing ?

Sounds like a hub bearing a nd a leaking axle seal to me. The two parts are seperate and have nothing to do with the other so it was just a coincidence that you noticed the leak after you heard the hub bearing. Replace the axle seal to stop the leak and then replace the hub bearing assembly to fix the humm because you have to dissassemble all of that to fix the axle leak anyway.

That will be a Huge job. The whole front diff must come out of the car and the case will need to be taken apart to even gain acess to the carrier side bearings.
The hub bearing is where the wheel bolts up is that maybe what you are talking about?
Also the axle seal isn't that bad to do you need to remove the cv shaft then it's just a simple remove the seal and install the new one.
But all of these jobs will be big ones.

My front differential is leaking!

I cannot see it, but I am guessing that you need to replace your axle seal. To do this, you have to pull your CV shaft out. Remove the tire, remove the caliper from the top of the rotor. Using a hammer on the back, remove the rotor. Take off the spindle (axle) nut, separate the axle (CV shaft) from the hub. Replace seal. It should pop right out. Good luck!

In most cases just replacing the seal will repair the leak. Check the seal surface on the axle hub to insure that the surface is not damaged and will damage the new seal.

Right rear axle leaking gear oil

If it is the seal on the bearing, its not easy it is very time consuming, but this can also be the veiw if you have a brake cyl leak which can be caused by the brakes being exessevely worn in the rear end. I would take it to a shop and have them check it out,

2005 Yukon Front Diff Axle seals

You don't have to remove the whole diff to change the seals, but you will have to seperate it where the shaft meets the carrier housing. There is a clip holding the passenger axle shaft in place that you have to remove to change the seal. The drivers side axle stub can be removed with a little force as there is a spring clip holding that side in.
