Put the car on a hoist and look for an oil leak. Here are the common places to find a leak. 1) Valve cover gasket, can leak down on the backside of the engine. You should find the back of the engine wet with oil all the way up. 2) Leaking drain plug or oil filter. 3) Leaking oil pressure switch. 4) Leaking front or rear main seal around the crankshaft.
If the motor and underneath is dry and has no oil present, check the inside of the tailpipe. You may have a broken oil ring on one of the cylinders, or bad valve stem seals inside the top of the cylinder head. Be blessed.

2004 Sebring 2.7 runs good till heats up then will die. like fuel starved. the oil light starts to come on at 1500rpms then runs rough and have to keep engine rpm high.

If you need to keep your rpm above 1500 to keep the oil light from coming on, you need to have that checked RIGHT NOW. When the light comes on, oil pressure is at an absolute minimum. Check the oil level in your crankcase, and top it up if necessary. If you still get the light coming on, you may have a bad oil pump, excessive wear on bearings, or a bad oil pressure switch. Get it checked out or you are liable to blow your engine.

Oil does not register when running

Fill the sump to the full mark on the dip stick and ensure that you keep it topped up to keep it there. 1/4 on the dip stick is not enough if you want to keep the engine in one piece.. For example there will be around 4 pints in the sump to the full mark and you are running on 1 pint. That means that the oil is getting super hot and oil pressure is suffering.

Replace rods in 2001 prism

Not good omen. Likely a bearing seized or broke on your crank shaft. knocking is usually an indication of crank shaft problems - it is possible that you have top end damage as well. Prognosis is poor - rebuild / replacement is likely required. Don't plan any long trips - if you drain the oil you may find metal shavings etc... Depending on how bad the damage is you may be able to keep driving it but it does sound bad if you find it hard to keep running - if you do want to limp around for a bit drain the oil and change the filter and keep the oil up to it.

Sudden/Rapid oil consumption - no external leaks, no blue smoke out the exhaust. It will run fine, and keep oil level on full, I keep a close eye on the level, then suddenly almost all the oil will...

if the tail pipe is oil free to the touch you have a major oil leak. Look around the entire engine and underneath the engine to see if oil is on the ground

oil gets acidic and corrodes if left in the engine too long. 6 months is ok if you hardly ever drive it but do not leave it in much longer.
