Hello. I have a mk3 golf 1.8l 8v. And I had no power on low rpm and when the engine was warm but not on the normal. And I had a fuel pump from 2.0 l , so I replaced with my (1.8l fuel pump). At start the engine was jumping but when I drove the performance of the car was great. But the spark plugs were wet and black. Can it be done or not, Or some adjustments needs to be done? thank you/

1999 mk3 golf. Car shifts fine when cold. When engine is at normal temp., gets increasingly harder to shift into gear. Especially 1st and 2nd.

Hello,
The most common cause for what you have described is low transmission fluid.
The reason being, when the car has been sitting for a while, the fluid runs back down into the transmission pan.
So, at start up, there's enough fluid in the pan for the pump to work correctly, but, as the fluid is pumped back up into yhe transmission there's less fluid in the pan for the pump.

Be very careful not to overfil the transmission, this can trigger the, " check engine light ".

I hope this help you.
Thanks, Donnie

That sounds like the the temperture sensor. that is what works the revs when the car is cold, is should be at the front of the engine. hope that helps

Hi mt mk3 golf gti 2.0 liter 8 valve seems to be hitting a limiter of some sort at 5000rpm it should rev to over 6000rpm why is this,? thanks

what aload of rubbish its not going over 5000rpm because the dizzie timings out and you need to get your crank or tdc timing then check all timing marks line up through top of gear box once its all lined up then you can set your distributor timing this is definately the problem so i hope you sort it ive red lined my golf for 2 years on nearly every journey at some point and the engine runs sweet as a nut but it does drink alot of fuel lol

Golf gti 2.0L 8v

my first solution would be to check all the timing is set up properly and you will probably find that the distributor is not timed up right
