98 Buick park avenue, electric door locks work intermittently, lock while engine running and won't unlock!

Do you know how to use a wiring diagram an a DMM - digital multi-meter to test automotive electrical circuit's ? That's how one would go about solving a problem like this . Testing B+ power ,plus ground circuit's . Without testing the circuit's we'd only be guessing .Lock's are controlled by a electronic module. Could also have DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored. Free wiring diagrams here http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html
Enter vehicle info. year , make , model an engine size . Under system click on body & accessories ,then under subsystem click on power lock's . Click the search button then the blue link. Do the power windows work ?
The power door lock sub-system is comprised of the following components:
• The class 2 serial data link
• The door lock actuators (motors/manual levers)
• The power door lock switch
• The driver door module (DDM)
• The left front power door lock switch
• The passenger door module (PDM)
• The rear door module (RDM)
• The remote function actuator (RFA) module
• The right front power door lock switch
• The simple bus interface (SBI)

If you know nothing of the stuff i posted ,your best bet would be to take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop.

Driver Door Module (DDM)
The driver's door module (DDM) directly controls the driver's door lock actuator motor. The DDM receives and forwards the driver's door switch lock request messages to the remote function actuator (RFA) via the serial data link. The RFA receives the request message and examines the message for lockout prevention criteria. If the conditions are proper, the RFA sends a lock or an unlock command message back to the DDM. The DDM forwards door lock messages received from the RFA to the passenger door module (PDM) and the rear door module (RDM) over a simple bus interface (SBI) line. The DDM also contains a class 2 serial interface which communicates with other vehicle system modules. The left front door power window and the outside power mirror are also controlled through the DDM. Battery voltage is always applied to the DDM through the retained accessory power (RAP) circuit breaker located in the underhood Maxifuse® block.

Could be a simple problem , but one never know's till they do all the testing .

2002 Cadi Deville, can't get any locks to operate with remote or dash push buttons, the remote operates everthing but the locks! When the remote door lock is pressed, lites flash, horn blows locks not.

Power Door Lock Operation
The vehicle is equipped with power door locks. Each lock actuator is powered and controlled by the door module mounted in the individual door, but the rear integration module (RIM), which is the master control for the door lock system, determines when the lock functions are permitted. The RIM receives and examines the requested lock function from the individual door modules, or from the remote function actuator (RFA) via the class 2 serial data circuit. The RIM also examines the transmission shift selector position and the ignition switch position information available over the Class 2 serial data circuits. If the RIM determines that a lock or unlock function is permitted, it sends a class 2 message back to the individual door modules commanding them to perform that Lock or Unlock function.
Power Door Lock Components
The power door lock system consists of the following components:
?€¢
Driver door lock switch

?€¢
Passenger front door lock switch

?€¢
LH rear door lock switch

?€¢
RH rear door lock switch

?€¢
LH middle door lock switch (w/ V4U)

Where is the control module for the windows and locks etc.

The vehicle is equipped with power door locks. Each lock actuator is powered and controlled by the door module mounted in the individual door. The driver door module (DDM) is the master control for the door lock system but the rear integration module (RIM) contains the program that determines when the lock functions are permitted. ( RIM ) is rear integrated module , under the back seat . Also a fuse box is also located under the back seat.
The door lock operation modes are controlled by the rear integration module (RIM). The RIM examines the requested function from the DDM, or the remote function actuator (RFA), as well as the transmission shift selector position and the ignition switch position information available over the Class 2 serial data circuits. The RIM determines if a locking function is permitted, and commands the DDM to perform the function permitted. The DDM then sends commands to the rest of the door modules via the SBI to implement the selected locking function.
The vehicle is equipped with power windows controlled by the door modules. The DDM receives a window switch request, over the SBI serial data, from either the passenger door module wired to the window switch pressed or from the driver door switch assembly. The DDM checks the Class 2 serial data to see if the status information is correct (i.e. ignition switch position) to permit window operation.
Your best bet is take the vehicle to the dealer or a repair shop that knows how the system works . Are you familiar with GM class 2 serial data communication network ? You could inadvertently render your vehicle unable to start an run if the class 2 bus were to become shorted to ground .

Bad ground wire maybe for the left side brake light .ground connection G- 401 . Do you know anything about automotive electrical circuits ? B+ - voltage side an ground ?
Voltage drop testing the circuit is the way to find problems in automotive electrical circuits, plus looking at wiring diagrams so you know what wires you want to test. The brake lights won't work if the vehicle isn't on . Controlled by the BCM - body control module.

Driver side door, electric windows and lock will not work.

If windows still work from other door switches, then fuse is good, if not check fuse, if they do replace master window switch, shorted out with the water.

Driverside door lock & window stopped working.

It may seam extremely complex this problem however its likely vary simple. What you need to do is fine out what works and what dose not . Dose the keyless work on other doors the battery is G or NG. You also mention the remote starter stopped working and D and P position no longer works correctly with the controls /switches in the drivers side door only' not the other doors ..
The control panel for the locks and window switches are on the arm rest drivers door it tends to get wet rain snow window open over time bad connections /switch contact and that is the point you need to look at first . Get some electrical contact cleaner spray into the switches not to much spillage use a tube or it may damage trim materials .
Then use the controls back and forth if you see any improvement of function starts /then stops any change you found the problem .Its in the door.

Location of window circuit breaker

All of the window motors utilize the same circuit breaker. Look for a broken wire between the left side of the dash, which goes thru the inner fender to the door. According to my 1988 schematic, the wire you are looking for should be BLUE, and should have 12 volts with the key on.
