Hi Eric, it sound to me like the modulator in the trans is faulty. This modulator is what controls the shifting in the trans.It details a 30 minmute repair by your transmission specialist. The replacement part should be around a hundred dls, plus the labor. While you are at it, have the filter changed in the trans for carefree shifting.
Who said you could do that? He should have also told you how! Get a bottle of lucas trans slip for 12$ and that is the only thing that will revive a slipping trans, or take it to a tranny shop and have it rebuilt
94 probly has alot of miles on that trans with out the proper changes that should have been done at every 40k miles.
The 46rh is a hydraulic transmission as where the 46re is an electric transmission. With minor wiring you can replace the 46re with the 46rh but not the other way around. Your transmission would stay in limp mode and wouldn't shift out of 2nd gear. So the answer is no.

To answer your question simply, the tranny will not work as it is. To my recolection, the transmissions changed midway through the 1993 production period for the Grand Cherokee. Even the mounts in your 94 had changed from the 91.
Having said that, there may very well be a conversion kit or adapter kit available to make this possible. But, I'm not aware of one and, based on previous experiences, I would not think it would be cost-effective or easy.
